Job Purpose
Responsible for all the activities related to materials control functions. Provides technical expertise with experience based knowledge and assistance to technical and operational divisions / departments on all related matters to materials and Spare Parts. Review engineering packages and advises recommendations on material and spare parts selection.
Job Specific Accountabilities
• Develops Bill of materials, assess critically of spares and define optimum stock levels. Selects materials as per services and recommends alternatives. Carries out technical bid analysis on spares and materials and recommend acceptability.
• Reviews spare part interchangeability record (SPIR), carry out verification and reconciliation and raise VAP. Recommends material for processing and spare part purchasing for operation.
• Identifies missing information in the spare parts database, collect data from engineering packages and other sources carry out contents cleansing and updating. Prepare Materials master data to MAXIMO.
• Participates in equipment review and proposed new solutions alerts on standardization, obsolescence of equipment and spare. Determine spare parts critically and define necessary rules and analysis required for best maintenance type for each system.
• Leads and coordinates the development of spare part strategy on sites and introduces necessary monitoring techniques for spare part consumption analysis.
• Explore and evaluates new sources of supply. Interviews supplier sales representatives and continually endeavors to keep abreast of developments that influence procurement procedures and practices.
• Participates in situations involving materials discrepancies related to materials specifications where a deadlock exists between the vendor and the users.
• Resolves technical queries during procurement and participates with the end user in the technical evaluation / analysis. Tracks and maintains management information status (MIS) reports and records such as SPIR submission report, VAP reports etc.
• Review and coordinate with Contractors and suppliers the new projects operational spares are in order to ensure correctness and completeness of the specification and other engineering and commercial data by making reference to drawings and parts lists specifications.
• Review materials catalogue to ensure specified template / format, monitor and control the grouping, coding and linking related technical documents and drawings in the company Materials Management System (MAXIMO).
• Participate in developing alternative specification and alternative sources to enhance catalogue with acceptable materials specification and sources in order to reduce monopoly by single source suppliers.
• Coordinate with End users, Technical Departments and manufacturers to assist in identifying all hazardous substances and modification of their buying description to comply with the relevant safety standards, clauses and codes of practice in accordance with the international safety regulations. To supervise and control Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) central library for all Hazardous Materials.

Bachelor Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent
