The role is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with corporate, employment and VAT taxation matters for the Weatherford Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Myanmar entities. The role will be hands on with the preparation and review of statutory financial statements, overseeing the external audit, preparation and review of external tax returns, tax packs, dealing with tax audits, planning, audit support and other tax matters. The role requires tax advice and recommendations to reduce the business risks and, where appropriate, maximise tax benefits.

- Manage tax compliance including both direct and indirect taxes such as CIT, VAT, withholding taxes, and other statutory obligations.
- Coordinates and/or supports external consultants and external auditors with the preparation and review of statutotyr financial statements to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Oversees the tax refund process, rigorous monitoring, and timely follow-ups with relevant tax authorities to secure timely refund issuance
- Implement efficient, integrated tax strategies, policies, and work plans in accordance with Weatherford policy.
- Managing the response and resolution of tax enquiries, tax audits and tax litigation, coordinating and/or supporting external consultants. Furthermore, managing the relationship with the tax authorities alongside educating the wider group on any tax legislative changes and associated impact.
- Collaborate with tax, finance and other stakeholders to address any tax issues and tax initiatives
- Tax support to the business, key support for tendering team regarding all aspects of taxation, when bidding for work.
- Implements tax planning opportunities and supports on cash repatriation managing the related withholding tax obligations.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess their impact on business operations.
- Provide tax advisory support for cross-functional business decisions, including transfer pricing and international transactions
- Oversees outsourced tax working paper preparation and manages any correction measures required with outsourced shared services function based in Bangalore.
- Review of tax accounting reporting process for US GAAP purposes, including effective tax rate, uncertain tax positions, tax audit updates, reconciliations of tax accounts and provide balance sheet commentaries
- Prepare or review schedules and memos requested by external auditors and manage the audit process.
- Review internal reporting schedules and analyses.
- Ensure compliance with Weatherford SOX 404 internal tax controls and procedures.
- Manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Handle special projects as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Required Education: Degree in Accounting or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CTA).
- Minimum 5 years of tax experience within a Tax firm or a multinational organization and dealing with tax authorities
- Experience working with external auditors, ideally with Big Four firms.
- Solid understanding of IFRS, US GAAP, corporate taxation, and statutory accounts.
- Experience with income tax compliance, provision calculations, and reconciliations between US GAAP, IFRS, and tax returns.
PREFERRED
- Oil & gas industry experience.
- International tax experience.
- Experience in tax strategy implementation and tax planning support.
