JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The Junior Instrument Engineer is responsible for maintenance operations and activities within the assigned area of competence.
  • The role ensures that all maintenance operations under their responsibility are performed in strict accordance with the COMPANY's current safety rules, maintenance procedures, and standard industry practices, thereby guaranteeing the quality of maintenance activities carried out on site by the CONTRACTOR.
  • The Junior Instrument Engineer ensures a high level of availability of the equipment under their responsibility on the production site.
  • The role includes performing all duties specified in this job description
  • Ensures HSE policy fulfillment during his activities
  • Have a good understanding of HSE rules.
  • Assists the Seniors on site to spread the HSE policies and to put the rules in place.
  • Participate to safety talk before and after intervention
  • Ensures that have the required habilitation.
  • Respects the waste management policy in force on site, verifying that all activities performed under his own responsibility, comply it, without any exceptions.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs on site the maintenance operations which are placed under his responsibility,
  • Assists specialists working under Specific Maintenance Contracts (SMC),
  • Ensures that HSE regulations are respected (especially procedures related to Work Permits), as well as approved operating procedures and standard industry practice during performance of maintenance operations placed under his responsibility,
  • Ensures that all maintenance and repairs of the equipment under his responsibility are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in strict compliance with operating procedures and any relevant statutory legislation in order to maintain all such equipment in sound and safe operating condition.
  • Performs the Maintenance (Preventive, Corrective), diagnostic and troubleshooting of the Fire and Gas, Fire Fighting systems
  • Carries out, at the Senior request, any intervention within his area of competence.
  • Takes in charge the systems under his responsibility in case of breakdown until correct operation status.
  • Identifies recurrent corrective maintenance interventions, analyses them and suggests improvements,
  • Keeps a critical eye on current preventive maintenance programs and, if need be, suggests improvements,
  • Warns Senior of any recurring problems related to the availability or quality of spare parts and Suggests improvements and requests modifications.
  • Participate in the drawing up annual requests for equipment and tools.


QUALIFICATIONS

The holder of this position must have the following qualifications:
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in the maintenance field on O&G production installations especially in instrument,
  • A basic knowledge of the process of O&G treatment, installations and a thorough knowledge of the instrument equipment used in O&G treatment installations
  • Understanding and use of basic laws and units of physic (temperature, pressure, volume, density; specific gravity...).
  • Read and use drawings (P&ID's, ESD matrix and loop diagrams), vendor documents, name plate, datasheets. Be knowledgeable of instrument symbols.
  • Understand regulation principles and be able to analyze them (differentiation in between cascade, split range, simple).
  • Have a basic understanding of PCS, F&G, and ESD systems. Understand inhibit, alarm and trip concepts.
  • Understand working principle of basic instruments: level and interface level transmitters, thermocouples, manometers, vibration probes, metering devices (orifice plate, Coriolis, turbine, volumetric).
  • Have basic knowledge in pneumatics and hydraulic distribution as well as electrical engineering (SOV, timer, relay...).
  • Understand manual and automatic valves (including PSV) principle and command (positioner...).
  • Be familiar with all types of F&G detection (fusible loop, UV/IR, gas, smoke);
  • Know how to select and use the necessary hand tools. Properly operate, maintain and use the available set of workshop tools.
  • Correct use and handling of tubing, compression fittings, gaskets, "O" rings, cable glands...
  • Correct use and handling of multimeters, calibration unit, hydraulic pumps, deadweight tester, temperature bath, smart calibrator.
  • Pride in his work, ability to maintain good relations with colleagues and others,

Physical ability to work on offshore installations in the climatic conditions of the site,
