Job Description Summary

Experienced advanced mechanical engineer (or equivalent) with depth in areas of mechanical design capable to identify, develop, execute, evaluate, introduce, and provide continuous support along the design, manufacturing, try-out and/or supplier's or field issues to meet short-term and long-term goals. Lead, execute and/or provide key technical direction of multiple projects with business impact.

Be up to date and act as leader in own technical specialty to anticipate, apply, adapt, or develop technologies for product introduction, quality assurance, performance, cost improvement and problem resolution. Support internal and external customers as well as suppliers as required within the Support Equipment Section.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coach and mentor other engineers through life cycle of project execution in the analysis, design, test and/or integration related to assigned components, assemblies or process systems that meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and meet the product/program requirements.
  • Follow the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Support Equipment Procedures and Engineering Standards.
  • Be a technical engineering leader to identify Support Equipment customer needs and develop solutions to meet those needs to improve or resolve design, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues.
  • Document engineering data such as technical requirements, quality requirements, risks assessments and risks abatement plans following the standard process guidelines and engineering procedures to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies, processes and/or systems.
  • Create and Own Advanced Mechanical Analysis to ensure mechanical strength and meet Safety Factors requirement for SE Complex Designs.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business and/or product issues, and significant project milestones to peers and technical leads locally and abroad.
  • Participate as a technical leader/presenter on technical boards and program reviews.
  • Be technically resourceful and capable to substantiate design proposals and lead the solution of medium to large complexity technical problems.
  • Utilize quality/process improvement or/and Lean tools to enhance current business products and processes using FLIGHT DECK Fundamentals.
  • Work on multiple projects monitoring progress and ensuring that quality and schedule requirements are met.
  • Check own and other people's work and product or process deliverables.
  • Lead the implementation of innovative analysis design, development concepts of processes and systems.
  • Define technical schedule cost and/or program requirements.
  • Conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.
  • Lead and Own the development of components, assemblies, processes, or systems such as Support Equipment Storyboards and solve complex high-impact problems.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Master or Higher is a plus.
  • Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position.
  • FEA experience is a MUST to perform high quality Mechanical Analysis.
  • Systems Thinking within the Support Equipment Field & MRO.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • English skills: Must be able to maintain advanced technical conversations in English.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with Senior and Executive Leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing projects across functions.
  • Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for decision-making.
  • Advanced project and work management is a MUST.

Desired Characteristics
  • Previous experience in assembly/disassembly processes of aviation engines.
  • Previous experience in design of assembly/disassembly of Mechanical equipment.
  • Product development experience through a detailed and organized process, from concept definition, test and risk identification to assembly presenting at an specific time to a multiple stakeholders audience.
