Job Description:

The Senior Procurement Delivery Manager, Brazil leads the Brazil regional procurement team. The individual will create and stand-up the procurement organizational construct to support the growth of the region. They are the most senior procurement person in region, and their team ensures regional procurement strategy, oversees purchasing processes, manages supplier relationships, mitigation of risks while ensuring cost efficiency.

They integrate business strategies and demand through aligned procurement category strategies ensuring the delivery of commercial excellence, they represent the 'voice' of the region for the end-to-end procurement process. They will liaise with other procurement teams to deliver the regions priorities, e.g. working with categories when that category delivers into their region. They balance business needs with category plans ensuring they are in alignment.

In addition, they act as the main point of contact for external partners to procurement (PPSA, suppliers, co-ventures, regulators, etc.), oversee cost recovery of third party spend and support business integrity and crisis activities to reduce operational risk and cost. Where applicable, they are a member of the Regional Business Leadership Team (BLT).

They are a people leader for the region overseeing people matters. They work with their peers to share ideal ways of working, making procurement more efficient and effective.

They cultivate partnerships with senior stakeholders and collaborate to deliver step changes in third party spend management. Their teams directly influence the business / entity financial plans and the overall value delivery of Finance - procurement. They have high commercial acumen ensuring alignment with business goals and delivering secure optimal, compliant, and competitive, risk-managed procurement outcome ensuring a safe, sustainable supply chain is in place.

A transformational leader, adept at change management, who builds high performing teams through displaying emotional understanding and fostering resilience.

Key responsibilities:

Region leadership: Oversees delivery of procurement headcount, budget, and annual targets for the Brazil region.

  • Builds high performing teams in the region through energizing and engaging leadership providing clear direction to their procurement delivery teams
  • As the senior role in the region, they have dotted line accountability for regionally deployed category teams resources, ensuring category activities in the region align with business priorities by working closely with category leads
  • Cultivates relationships with multiple senior business customers, aligning on business and procurement priorities and collaborating to deliver them
  • Delivers modernization & transformation activities, leading optimization of regional procurement delivery aligned to the broader procurement strategic transformation agenda
  • Manages business procurement performance to meet and exceed the relevant performance targets, safety and compliance metrics or targets
  • Team leadership: Builds high performing teams by fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement. Their team has deep technical skills and represents the interests of the region across procurement and the broader organization.
  • Builds region knowledge across the wider procurement organization to ensure delivery of their objectives
  • Develops the team's technical capabilities and nurture accelerator skills; curiosity in external markets, innovation and technological disruption, digital fluency, data-driven insights, and strong collaboration with stakeholders
  • Establishes an environment of psychological safety as a foundation for collaborative learning, ideation and innovation
  • Provides coaching and guidance to their matrix teams and dotted line reports on business delivery, external stakeholder interface, risk management and people matters
  • Promotes compliance with bp's Code of Conduct (CoC), policies and procedures to ensure compliance, actively demonstrate and role model bp's Who We Are expectations
  • Supplier & external relationship management: Uses storytelling to communicate with impact, respectfully challenging to achieve the right outcomes, resolving conflict and focusing on priorities
  • Skilled at leading and influencing through complexity and ambiguity, managing virtual relationships in multi-discipline, multi-cultural environments
  • Builds deep relationships, bringing market insights and championing supplier value whilst taking time to understand business needs. Becomes a trusted advisor and critical partner
  • Builds relationships with the procurement teams globally, understanding feedback and proactively working to build procurements reputation and value
  • Maintains close connectivity with procurement leadership, ensuring appropriate prioritization and resourcing
  • Provides procurement leadership to Operate by Other (OBO)/JV activities as necessary
  • Transformational Leadership and Change Management: Leads major change initiatives, which deliver incremental value to regions / sites / assets in a dynamic environment.
  • Oversees orchestration of change across a diverse stakeholder landscape
  • Uses digital tools to drive innovation and value creation
  • Uses storytelling and good communication to encourage adoption

Essential candidate requirements:

  • Leadership and communication: Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills are essential for managing teams, relationships, and complex contracts. Influencing and integrating skills.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in procurement or a related field, with specific experience in areas like government purchasing or local ordinances being a plus; especially given the need for PPSA engagement.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with procurement and supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, ERP systems, etc.) and data analytics tools are frequently used to manage procurement process within the organization. Established supply chain strategy for region, including contract map.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, Public Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is beneficial and or equivalent work experience.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English

It would be beneficial but not essential to also have:

  • Experience standing up a new team and infrastructure.
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation
