Wood is currently sourcing for an HR Business Partner to join our local team in Angola, at this stage it is an "Expression of Interest" from interested candidates.

The HR Business Partner will act as the primary HR focal point for Wood Group Kianda and will oversee the end‑to‑end people life cycle for both expatriate and national personnel. This includes responsibility for onboarding, mobilisation, performance management, personnel development, reward, nationalisation, talent resourcing and succession planning, as well as offboarding and demobilisation.

Please note this position is only open to National Angolan personnel.

Location: Luanda, Angola, West Africa

Rotation Work Pattern: Residential position 5-day week 8-hour day

Duration: Initially 6 months

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Objective:

The HR Business Partner will act as the primary HR focal point for Wood Group Kianda and will oversee the end‑to‑end people life cycle for both expatriate and national personnel. This includes responsibility for onboarding, mobilisation, performance management, personnel development, reward, nationalisation, talent resourcing and succession planning, as well as offboarding and demobilisation.

During the project start up phase incumbent will provide support to country manager and bid lead ensuring any logistics and visa requirements are managed via the local logistics/visa focal point. It is envisaged that WG Kianda will grow to 200 employees during the 90 day onboarding period. The role will also manage ongoing growth opportunities in various potential projects across Angola

The HRBP will manage all local HR requirements within the designated area of operational responsibility and will ensure consistent, compliant execution of HR processes. They will be accountable for delivering the people agenda for WGKianda in Angola and for implementing the HR strategy in alignment with both business and country objectives.

As a strategic business partner, the role provides expert advice and guidance on effective people management practices, ensuring that HR operations and processes are aligned with business priorities and conducted in line with relevant laws, regulations and best practice.

The HRBP is responsible for developing a high‑performing HR team with strong business partnering capabilities, capable of delivering innovative HR solutions across the entire employee life cycle. The role supports organisational people priorities, enhances employee engagement, leads talent and workforce planning activities, builds organisational effectiveness, and oversees change management initiatives. It also mitigates organisational risk through effective employee and industrial relations.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Deliver the HR strategy in their area of responsibility with the aim of bringing HR closer to the business as trusted advisors, in support of short and long term goals, including future growth aspirations.
  • Deliver HR regional and country project within Angola
  • Ensure HR decisions are aligned with both business and functional objectives.
  • Management and administration of direct and indirect reports working locally and remotely, maintaining open and effective lines of communications
  • Provide consultative, problem-solving support for challenging business issues and ensure expert functional support is provided to the business in a timely and cost effective manner
  • May lead the delivery of HR related acquisition and integration activities in area of responsibility
  • Ensure all relevant metrics and reporting KPIs are actively monitored and reported on.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of functional speciality by staying abreast of best practices, legal developments, emerging trends, technological advancements and benchmark comparisons
  • Develops effective leadership in their business area, aligned to Wood culture, values and behaviours.
  • Drives robust people development and performance management throughout the business area, to build and retain skills needed to deliver the operational business in the short to medium term.
  • Deliver employee communication and support employee engagement
  • Support and participate in emergency response activities ensuring effective HR presence.
  • Responsible for HR policy application, ensuring compliance with relevant group standards, regulatory requirements and operating procedures.
  • Support the creation of an organisational culture which fosters innovation and collaboration, continuous improvement and change.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:
  • Degree level qualification in HR or business management preferred
  • Several years experience in generalist HR advisor/business partner capacity within a dynamic organisation
  • Experience of managing change, including working cooperatively in business partnership
  • Knowledge of people practices and applicable legislative frameworks
  • Experience of dealing with industrial and employee relations issues
