Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support regional/global sourcing initiatives either under the leadership of a regional/global Category Manager or independently if under a defined threshold. Each day, you will purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring the purchase activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures.

The work model for the role is: onsite

This role is contributing to the EL Smart Power in Xiamen/Jiangmen .

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • 1. Develop and execute China Metal/Plastic category strategy aligned with Huba Asia & business goals, evaluate and optimize the supply base, by identifying and developing qualified new suppliers as appropriate to meet current and future business needs.
  • 2. Work closely with AT, PE and Quality Dept., manage well of responsible components development to meet ABB's quality standard and project timelines, drive POD implementation in China and report progress to Hua Asia Metal/Plastic Category Manager
  • 3. Lead China Metal/Plastic category team daily management, support Hub Asia Metal/Plastic Category Manager in team target setting, resource allocation and performance tracking to align with regional objectives
  • 4. Oversee China Metal/Plastic category planning, cost budgeting and risk control; conduct procurement per company quality & commercial guidelines to minimize quality, financial and supply chain risks, and report to Hub Asai Metal/Plastic Category Manager.
  • 5. Identifying, tracking and implementing cost saving actions to meet the year-on-year productivity targets for the China Metal/Plastic category, share best practices with APAC team to drive regional cost optimization
  • 6. Lead negotiation with suppliers in China, adapts corporate contract framework to the local business needs. Conduct ongoing supplier oversight and contract management and update Hub Asia Metal/Plastic Category Manager on supplier performance.
  • 7. Contribute to and participate in setting and implementing budget and targets within the framework. Ensure the China Metal/Plastic category sourcing performance targets are achieved.
  • 8. Define and continuously improve value chain with a focus to shorten lead time and optimize logistic processes, while considering total cost.
  • 9. Close cooperation with the purchasing team to support capacity planning and scalability / flexibility planning and work with Quality to improve supplier performance (OTD, DPPM, lead time etc.)
  • 10. Manage the price and quota for China Metal/Plastic category.


Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical/Engineering/Electrical or Commercial or similar degree'
  • Minimum 6 years working experience,team management experience is preferred
  • Strong result-oriented, fact-based, and constantly improving
  • Excellent communication, cooperation and influence skills, to effectively drive internal and external initiatives
  • Good analytical skills and good communication skills
  • Fluent English in both speaking and writing
  • Ability to handle complexity and work under pressure
  • Knowledge of metal machining/stamping, plastic molding/raw material and mold making process would be preferred
  • Good knowledge in sourcing methods, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, analytical skills and legal/contractual knowledge would be preferred
  • Strong data processing (e.g Power BI) and report ability are preferred
