Public Health and Commissioning Knowledge Specialist

Job summary
Based in Brighton, the post holder will work with local public health and commissioning staff of all grades and professions to promote and support evidence-based decision-making. They will work as a member of selected public health teams to provide highly specific, quality-filtered evidence to both teams and individuals in response to information needs. This will involve working alongside staff in their place of work, including attending multi-disciplinary meetings as appropriate.
The post holder will use expert knowledge of online searching to provide comprehensive evidence searches. They will provide evidence updates and other alerting services for staff, and will teach and train groups and individuals in evidence-based information skills, including critical appraisal skills.They will promote the service, liaise with key members of the teams, evaluate the service, and make recommendations for the future.

Main duties of the job

members, supporting them to undertake study, service improvement, audit
and research.
Identify the training needs of the multi-disciplinary teams covered by the service.
Provide teaching and training to individuals and groups of staff on effective use of information services,
critical appraisal of research and other information skills, using face-to-face delivery, remote teaching
tools and blended learning where appropriate.
Work alongside multi-professional teams in their environment, e.g. attending meetings, journal clubs,
ward rounds (where appropriate), and other events, to establish the best methods of supporting their
information needs.
Develop expert knowledge in specialist areas in order to understand and fulfil the needs of the assigned
teams and departments.
Proactively offer evidence reports, information skills teaching, information resources, and evidence
updates as needed, generating additional work for Knowledge and Libraries.
Assist in running of Knowledge and Libraries by supporting and influencing service developments and
planning.
