Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to define, operate, and continuously improve the enterprise architecture governance framework, standards, and compliance mechanisms. Each day you will ensure architectural consistency, risk reduction, and strategic alignment across ABB's decentralized operating model, while enabling local autonomy and innovation. You will also act as the custodian of architectural decision making, standards, and guardrails. You will be balancing enterprise coherence with domain and product team agility, making sure that EA rules and practices are embedded into the organization's operating model. This role has three/ four people reporting into it.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Architecture Governance
- Governing and operating the enterprise architecture governance model, including decision rights, escalation paths, and review forums.
- Ensuring architecture choices are transparent, traceable, and aligned with enterprise strategy.
- Embedding governance into delivery processes (e.g., portfolio, product, and investment lifecycles).
- Overseeing governance boards across the organization and making sure that relevant decentralized governance is in place.
- Practice Development
- Defining and maintaining EA practice standards, frameworks, and methodologies aligned with industry best practices (e.g., TOGAF) and organizational strategy.
- Establishing governance processes for architecture reviews, compliance and selection.
- Training and support for architects and business consumers.
- Enablement & Community Building
- Driving initiatives to strengthen the EA community through training, knowledge sharing, and collaboration platforms.
- Promoting adoption of EA tools (e.g., Ardoq) and ensuring effective onboarding and usage across domains.
- Acting as a champion for the EA repository and toolset and driving cultural change by fostering a "community-led architecture" mindset.
- Standards & Reference Architecture
- Owning and maintaining enterprise architecture standards and policies across business, data, application, technology, security, and integration domains.
- Continuous Improvement
- Measuring governance effectiveness using defined KPIs (e.g., reuse, compliance, time-to-decision), continuously improving standards, governance processes, and tooling and staying current with industry best practices and evolving architectural trends.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's or master's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 8+ years in Enterprise Architecture or related roles, with at least 3 years in practice enablement or governance
- Proven experience in implementing EA frameworks, tools, and governance processes in a global organization
- Experience in decentralized, multi-domain, or federated operating models
- Strong understanding of EA domains (business, application, data, technology)
- Familiarity with architecture modeling tools (e.g., Ardoq, ArchiMate)
- TOGAF or equivalent EA framework certification preferred
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Strong governance, risk, and standards management capability
