DG BOSS: Locksmith

Performs a wide range of locksmith and electronic access system duties, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of locks, doors, and hardware; opening of locks on doors and safes; and changing lock combinations. Installs, adjust, repair, and opens the lock. Also, change lock combinations and make keys.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Repairs and opens locks, makes keys, and changes lock combinations using hand tools and special equipment.
• Disassembles locks such as: padlocks, safe locks, door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
• Provides Quality Maintenance and Repairs on various types of safes, using hand tools, lathes, drill presses, and welding with cutting apparatus.
• Install and repair locks (including mechanical and electronic cipher locks).
• Inserts new or repaired tumblers into Locks so that Combinations can be changed.
• Disassembles mechanical or electrical locking devices, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts using hand tools.
• Move the lockpick in the cylinder to open door locks without keys.
• May keep records of company locks and keys.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
• Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Basic Qualifications

• Must know the techniques for keying, repairing, installing, and servicing locks and related hardware.
• Knowledge of lock-picking devices, code-cutting devices, hand/power tools, and key machines.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities when it comes to making on-the-spot decisions for security and safety concerns related to the work-ordered equipment.
• Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people.
• Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace follows safety rules, practice safe work habits, and utilize appropriate safety equipment.
• Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
• Must have a valid country of origin's driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

• Must be qualified at the journeyman level and be a registered locksmith capable of providing total locksmith services including high security locks.
• Must have the ability to gain GSA and KABA X10 certification

EDUCATION:

• Must have at least High School diploma, Vocational or Technical course graduate.

EXPERIENCE:

• Must have at least three (3) years' experience in locksmithing work.
