Your role and responsibilities :
We are looking for a PCB Layout Engineer at ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited (GISPL). This is a company which has 4 business areas to support ABB R&D projects globally. We are located in Bangalore, India and we have 2000 employees as a part of this company serving in the areas of Research, Development, Engineering center and Regional ERP support center which contributes to ABB's 4 business areas globally. In 2015 the company name was registered as ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited (GISPL). This position is opened in the Motion Drive Products (MODP) Division, which is a global technology leader in variable frequency drives. We keep the world turning, while saving energy every day. Our drives help our customers to achieve energy efficiency, sustainability and achieve profitable growth. Reporting to the Division R&D Manager in Bangalore, you will collaborate with high‑performing teams developing and validating shippable, energy‑efficient products for both India and global markets. As part of ABB's worldwide MODP R&D community, you'll contribute to technologies that not only power industry but also help reduce energy consumption and support a more sustainable future.

This role is contributing to the Motion Drive Product Division in Bangalore .
Your responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for Creating PCB layouts for analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power boards using industry-standard EDA tools as per ABB design standards. Interpret and implement schematic inputs into optimized PCB layouts.
- Perform component placement considering signal integrity, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and manufacturability (DFM/DFT).Route high-speed interfaces (e.g., DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet) with proper impedance control. Design multilayer stack-ups in coordination with PCB manufacturers.
- Generate fabrication, assembly drawings, and Gerber/ODB++ files for manufacturing.
- Maintain library symbols, footprints, and ensure adherence to ABB standards.
- Conduct and participate in peer reviews, implementing design corrections as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high‑quality boards aligned with industry and organizational standards. Work with vendors and manufacturing partners to resolve fabrication or assembly issues.
- Adherence to Product Lifecycle Management process as per ABB standards.

Qualifications for the role :
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field with 4-6 years of proven experience in PCB design and layout.
- Proficiency at PCB design tool (Expertise with PADS tool is preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics. Experience with library creation and footprint validation. Experience in high-speed and high-density board design.
- Strong understanding of PCB material, stack-up design, controlled impedance routing, and EMI/EMC best practices.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFT principles and IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-6012).
- Strong understanding of PCB assembly processes (SMT, wave soldering, reflow).
- Basic understanding of 3D modelling and mechanical design. Familiarity with simulation tools for signal integrity or thermal analysis.
- Knowledge of PLM systems and change management processes.
