Your role and responsibilities

At ABB, we help industries outrun - leaner and cleaner.

In this role, y ou will be a vital member of the finance team within the Country Finance in Malaysia. You will ensure completeness and accurate of the accounting activities and local & global projects performed in compliance with internal guidelines and procedures and external regulatory requirements.

This role is contributing to the Country Finance Team based at Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Main stakeholders are Finance & Accounting Operations (FAO) Hub and business stakeholders .

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Leading general accounting and reporting for assigned scope, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial close, reporting, compliance, and control activities.
• Overseeing and supporting the month-end close process including account reconciliation, balance sheet review, and all supporting reconciliation activities.
• Acting as senior escalation point for complex accounting transactions and reporting matters, providing expert guidance and resolution.
• Leading Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICoFR) compliance for specific process areas (R2R, O2C, P2P); ensuring processes and controls are designed effectively and to address financial reporting.
• Ensuring compliance with ABB Accounting & Reporting Guidelines, internal policies, local GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements across all assigned functions.
• Participate in initiatives and projects to continuously drive standardization, simplification, automation, and continuous improvement across accounting and reporting processes.
• Managing all Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities including end-to-end e-Invoice processes in close coordination with Finance & Accounting Operations (FAO) Hub and business stakeholders.
• Serving as primary contact for local processes related to R2R, O2C, and P2P; identifying root causes of delays, collaborating with teams to implement solutions, and partnering with controllers, business leaders, auditors, tax, treasury, and FAO teams for issue resolution and decision-making.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy/Finance with 5-8 years of financial accounting.
• Good knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements with strong experience in general accounting, reporting, financial close and statutory compliance.
• Proficient in SAP FICO and Microsoft Office Suite; experience in project coordination, UAT testing and system deployment.
• Proven ability to identify and overcome process execution barriers and drive continuous improvement, standardization, and automation initiatives.
• Meticulous, detail-oriented, proactive work attitude, independent, resourceful and capable of managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
• Strong team player with strong communication skills; effective cross-functional and regional collaboration (diverse stakeholders including business leaders and control teams).
• Resilient and adaptable with genuine curiosity about emerging technologies and continuous learning orientation; capable of navigating fast-paced operational requirements while maintaining accuracy and quality.
