What You Can Expect

As our State Tax Intern, you will support the corporate tax team with state and local income tax compliance. This includes preparing state and local income and franchise tax returns, including related schedules and supporting workpapers.

You will work a hybrid schedule from our Houston, TX offices. This Summer term is full-time; no more than 40 hours per week, and will last from June 1, 2026, to August 21, 2026.

You will:

  • Collect, organize and analyze financial data needed for tax compliance
  • Support the preparation of quarterly estimated state tax payments
  • Help maintain tax calendars and assist with state tax notices under the supervision of senior tax staff
  • Perform other tax-related tasks as assigned


What You'll Bring
  • You are enrolled as a Junior or Senior in Tax, Accounting, or Finance Undergraduate Degree; Graduate level students also accepted




Additional Details
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy 3 days in office
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Desire to obtain your CPA
  • Understanding of basic accounting principals: journal entries, debits/credits, and general understanding of taxes
  • Working experience in EXCEL
  • Sound analytical skills and demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing detailed, Excel-based


Compensation

Hourly Range: $23.50 to $25.00 USD hourly

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
