JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently looking to hire an Instrument Engineer to join our Engineering team in Baku, Azerbaijan

  • Performs Instrumentation & Control (I&C) engineering tasks through the application of engineering theories, techniques, and industry practices. Utilizes relevant regulations, codes, and manufacturing standards in the preparation and development of engineering deliverables. Supports Senior / Principal / Lead I&C Engineers in the execution of industrial, large‑scale, and complex projects.


Business Operations
  • Ensures work complies with technical requirements and Wood internal processes.
  • Ensures I&C deliverables meet health, safety, environmental, and security requirements

Technical Competency
  • Basic knowledge of I&C fundamentals, technologies, and materials for instruments and control systems (flowmeters, valves, pressure/temperature instruments, analyzers, DCS, API instruments, etc.).
  • Ability to perform routine I&C engineering and design tasks with accuracy and quality.
  • Basic understanding of field requirements, installation standards, and I&C concepts.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Execution
  • Supports I&C engineering tasks assigned by Senior / Principal / Lead Engineers.
  • Assists with preparation of bills of material, I&C schematics, and layouts for proposals and project scope definition.
  • Produces assigned engineering deliverables.

Project Deliverables
  • Prepares I&C specifications, datasheets, and material requisitions.

Procurement Support
  • Prepares I&C requisition packages and annexes for inquiry.
  • Supports technical bid evaluations for I&C equipment and packages.

Site Support
  • Supports field assignments, walk‑downs, and resolution of construction and vendor‑related I&C issues (layouts, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, vendor data, etc.).


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master's degree preferred).

    3-7 years of instrumentation engineering experience within oil & gas, energy, petrochemical, or industrial project environments.

    Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes: ISA, IEC, ISO, API, etc.

    Proficiency in 2D/3D design and engineering software such as AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/INtools), E3D, or similar tools.

    Experience preparing and reviewing instrument engineering deliverables, including datasheets, specifications, sizing calculations, wiring diagrams, and installation details.

    Strong ability to interpret P&IDs, engineering specifications, vendor drawings, and equipment datasheets.
