Job Description:

Why join our team?

We work together to deliver wells safely, efficiently, and in line with clear objectives - and we take pride in doing it well. In this role, you'll be part of our New Well Delivery team, where subsurface and wells teams collaborate closely.

We value practical thinking, shared problem-solving, and people who enjoy being part of a supportive and collaborative team environment. You will also have the opportunity to coach others and help shape how we deliver wells across the business.

Please note that this role is open to Azerbaijani nationals only.

Key Accountabilities:

We keep our list short because you'll already know what good operations geology looks like. Here's what you'll take ownership of:

As an Operations Geologist, you will be responsible for the safe planning and execution of wells, as well as delivering high-quality completion recommendations based on integrated subsurface data enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions on completion strategy and overall well deliverability.

Working closely with Wells, Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering, and other subsurface disciplines, you will help maximize well value while responding to subsurface uncertainties and operational constraints during execution.

We rely on you to:

  • Lead or contribute to geological input for wireline, LWD and coring programmes.
  • Stay in regular contact with our offshore Well‑Site Geologists and support them through daily rig updates.
  • Pick formation tops, casing/liner points, and Well TD, and raise uncertainties early.
  • Help us deliver the data acquisition plan and ensure the quality is right.
  • Work directly with our Mudlogging contractor, attending reviews, supporting audits, and keeping standards high.
  • Capture what we learn from each well and make sure it's shared across teams.
  • Deliver the Subsurface End of Well Report and closeout.
  • Coach and mentor developing geologists - something we take seriously as a team!

Experience:

  • We're looking for someone who brings hands‑on experience and can operate confidently in real‑time environments.

You should have:

  • Strong experience in operations geology or wellsite geology roles.
  • Experience in well planning, PPFG, and HPHT or narrow‑window wells.
  • A solid understanding of mud logging, LWD/MWD, wireline and pore pressure monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of petrophysical interpretation and tools such as Petrel.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Education:

  • Degree in Geology or a related field.

Key Competencies:

We're a practical team, so we focus on what matters:

  • Clear, timely communication
  • Sound operational judgement
  • Collaboration across disciplines
  • Coaching mindset
  • Good data awareness and follow‑through
  • Ability to simplify complex subsurface problems
