We are currently seeking a Senior Instrument Engineer, reporting directly to Department Manager to join our team based in Bangkok.

Main responsibilities
  • Lead or participate in instrument design and engineering across feasibility, conceptual design, basic engineering, FEED, detailed design, and EPC/EPCM phases for onshore and offshore projects.
  • Perform and review engineering activities completed by Engineers, Designers, and CAD Operators to ensure alignment with project requirements and international standards.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, subcontractors, third-party specialists, and authorities as required.
  • Participate in project meetings, technical discussions, and design reviews such as HAZOP, SIL, P&ID reviews, and 3D model reviews.
  • Conduct inter-discipline checks to ensure alignment across engineering deliverables.
  • Prepare scopes of work, manhour estimates, and cost estimates for proposals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building technical capabilities within the team.
  • When acting as Principal Engineer, support specialized consultancy tasks and provide expert technical guidance.
  • When assigned as Lead Engineer:
    • Advise the Department Manager on staffing requirements and competency planning.
    • Assign tasks, monitor team progress, and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions.
    • Oversee discipline manhours, schedules, and quality of deliverables.
    • Manage and maintain project technical documentation and archives

Primary Project Involvement
  • Prepare instrument design basis, control and shutdown philosophies, and control narratives.
  • Perform technical bid evaluations, review vendor offers, and incorporate vendor data.
  • Provide instrumentation-related input to mechanical equipment specifications and requisitions.
  • Review vendor data for mechanical equipment from an instrumentation perspective.
  • Review/approve datasheets and requisitions for field instruments, control valves, analyzers, on-off valves, safety relief valves, DCS, ESD, and FGS systems.
  • Review engineering calculations including control valve sizing, safety relief valve sizing, flow elements, restriction orifices, and thermowell wake frequency.
  • Review instrument air and power consumption calculations.
  • Prepare or check instrument architecture diagrams, cause-and-effect matrices, interlock logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and block diagrams.
  • Review/approve layouts: fire & gas, telecom, E&I, control room, cable trays, cable and tubing schedules, installation details, hook-ups, and bulk MTOs.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Support construction, commissioning, and plant start-up activities.


Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Industrial, Instrumentation, Chemical, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of instrument engineering design experience for Senior level, and fifteen (15) years for Principal level, within Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Chemical, or related industries.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with an Engineering Consultant or EPC/EPCM contractor.
  • Strong leadership qualities with high motivation and accountability.
  • Good knowledge of international codes and standards such as API, ASME, and ISA.
  • Strong engineering understanding of DCS, ESD, process instrumentation, custody metering analyzers, and functional safety.
  • Experience with Intools/SmartPlant Instrumentation is advantageous.
  • Experience with PDS (E‑Raceway) and PDMS is an advantage.
