Job Summary:

Materials Specialist is responsible for the execution of warehouse activities within the assigned Division/location. They must ensure adherence to company standards, applying good housekeeping practices, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency, ensuring goods are received, stored and issued to internal and external customers in a timely manner.

Materials Specialist must maintain inventory accuracy, both physically and in the warehouse management system (SAP) and provide support on planning and stock replenishment activities. This role ensures that all materials, including dangerous goods, comply with regulatory and safety standards while supporting the operational needs of the organization.

This will be a Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) role based out of Adelaide or Brisbane, on a 2:2 roster (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off), with crew change-over on Thursday cycle

Roles and Responsibilites:

Inventory Management
  • Perform Goods Issue, Goods Receipt, Picking, Packing, stock transfers
  • Ensure proper wrapping, labelling and storage of materials to prevent damage or loss
  • Use Forklift for Material handling
  • Prepare Sales Orders for load outs and backloads, conduct visual inspection of backloads, check for damages among backloaded items, organize its disposal
  • Prepare outbound deliveries for load outs and inbound deliveries for new shipments received
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure all hazardous materials are properly documented
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstocking
  • Perform weekly cycle counts and periodic full counts: investigate variance and adjust the system as per approvals
  • Support Planning team to reduce excess inventory and manage obsolete materials
  • Perform 20 Keys audit and 5S Audit for warehouse for continuous improvement
  • Ensure proper storage, packaging and transportation of dangerous goods, adhering to safety guidelines
  • Perform Goods reception using Blue MM phone, maintain M&S Stores containers and manage reservations

Quality Assurance
  • Inspect incoming materials for compliance with specifications and standards
  • Work closely with Operations crew to address non-conformance issues
  • Document material quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers, via Certificate of Analysis (COA)

Regulatory Compliance
  • Stay updated on laws and regulations concerning the handling, transport and disposal of Dangerous Goods (DG) and non-DG materials
  • Ensure chemicals stored in the warehouse are in accordance with the Licensing document or the DG License and ensure storage is as per the Chemical Compatibility matrix

Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of material transactions and inventory levels.
  • Generate reports on material usage, costs and disposals for management review
  • Use SAP/FLM/FDP/Ariba systems to track and manage material flow

Logistics Coordination
  • Oversee the transportation of domestic and international shipments, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards
  • Record the final weights and dimensions of the cargo and plan the shipment
  • Coordinate with logistics providers for timely delivery
  • Address and resolve any shipping discrepancies or delays

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Full Australian working rights.
  • Prior experience in materials/ inventory management
