BP's Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) is an integrated world-class trading organization that links together BP's trading and supply activities in gas, power, carbon, oil, refined products, and shipping.
The Commodity Risk Senior Analyst role sits within the Gas and Power Trading International (GPTI) Finance and Risk organization in Singapore, reporting to the Commodity Risk Lead, APAC Power and Carbon. It is a key analytical and control position in ST&S, balancing independence with a business enabling partnership.
The team is a fast-growing regional business which manages a portfolio of both physical and financial assets, including the optimisation and management of intermittent renewable generation, battery storage, flexible generation, interconnection, and other non-linear contracts.

What you will deliver
Key Responsibilities:
- Production of trading book P&L, exposure reporting, and performance attribution within strict daily deadlines.
- Ensure the integrity of management information provided to Accounting, Reporting and Control for the group accounts and financial disclosures, and that relevant policies and procedures are applied correctly to the APAC Power and Carbon portfolio.
- Commercial awareness of market fundamentals and drivers, with understanding of impact to risks and portfolio performance.
- Provide constructive challenge to trading activity to ensure it is compliant and aligned to intended trading strategy.
- Key contributor in the modelling, structuring and risk representation of complex renewable assets and associated financial positions.
- Assist in the preparation of market risk metrics and the identification of key risks in the portfolio.
- Collaborate closely with other Commodity Risk sub-teams within GPTI across Europe and Singapore to ensure alignment of systems, processes, controls and to capture findings.
- Provide feedback on new business activity and transactions as part of the assurance and approval process.
- Contribute to our rapidly advancing digital agenda seeing opportunities to increase efficiency in processes and controls through automation and standardisation.
Essential experience and job requirements
- A University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject area such as Finance or Accounting or discipline with transferable skills (i.e. science, technology, engineering, mathematics)
- Knowledge and understanding of energy trading markets and instruments
- Business experience in a control function within a trading environment
- Track record of operational improvement and innovation
- Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate sophisticated concepts effectively
- Attention to detail and ability to perform in a deadline-oriented environment
Key Technical Competencies
- Knowledge and understanding of energy trading markets and instruments
- Experience with pricing and exposure calculation for non-linear financial instruments
- Experience working with Openlink/Endur
- Knowledge of SQL and/or Python or other high-level programming language
- Understanding of accounting and market risk concepts
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- Relevant experience working in Power and/or Carbon markets
- Experience with pricing and exposure calculation for non-linear financial instruments such as options and/or physical assets (e.g. renewable assets, battery storage capacity, interconnectors)
- Experience working with Openlink/Endur
- Knowledge of SQL and/or Python or other high-level programming language
- Understanding of accounting and market risk concepts
- Professional qualification in risk management (i.e. FRM, ERP, or PRM), financial analysis (i.e. CFA or equivalent experince), or formally recognized Accounting qualification (ACA, CPA, etc.) would also be desirable
