1. Hydraulics System Design & Development
- Lead the end-to-end design & development of hydraulic systems, including concept generation, architecture definition, and detailed design of components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and manifolds.
- Thorough understanding of hydraulic fluid characteristics, effects of system on fluids and ability to design for and accommodate fluid characteristics and system operating conditions.
- Expertise in hydraulic principles, temperature effects, viscosity behavior, and fluid compatibility with various elastomers and sealing materials.
- Design and validate hydraulic systems operating at high pressures, including applications exceeding 100 bar.
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental protection standards and ingress protection (IP) ratings for system components.
- Develop, review, and optimize hydraulic schematics, system layouts, and associated Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Perform detailed system-level analysis including flow calculations, pressure drop estimations, heat generation assessment, and overall power requirement evaluations.
2. Technical Leadership
- Guide a team of engineers in executing hydraulic development projects.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
- Provide mentorship and technical training to junior engineers.
3. Testing, Validation & Troubleshooting
- Define test plans and validation requirements for hydraulic systems and components.
- Support lab and field testing, analyze data, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ability to convert high level ideas into practical
- High level of understanding of magnetic with hands on product problem solving with hands on experience
- Expect to spend 40% to 50% time on lab testing
- Lead root-cause analysis for hydraulic performance or reliability issues.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with mechanical, electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Collaborate with suppliers for component selection, feasibility discussions, and technical assessments.
- Support sourcing and procurement activities with technical expertise.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Create and maintain technical documentation: design reports, test reports, DFMEA & PFMEA
- Ensure hydraulic systems comply with relevant industry standards (ISO, SAE, CE, ASME, etc.)
- Support product safety evaluations and risk assessments.
6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Drive hydraulic system optimization for efficiency, cost, robustness, and manufacturability.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies (e.g., electro-hydraulics, smart valves, advanced filtration, energy-saving hydraulic systems).
- Support sustainability initiatives such as reduced energy consumption or eco-friendly fluids.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- 8-12 years of experience in hydraulic systems design and development.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic components, circuits, and fluid power principles.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, Catia)
- Experience with system controls involving electro-hydraulics (nice to have).
