At North Yorkshire Council, we are dedicated to ensuring every child and young person has the very best start in life. To help us achieve this, we're looking for a motivated and proactive Commissioning Assistant to join our dedicated Children & Young People's Services Commissioning Team.

About the Role

As our Commissioning Assistant, you will be the essential single point of contact for the CYPS Commissioning Service, playing a key role in supporting the commissioning and quality assurance of education and care placements across North Yorkshire.

You'll coordinate complex information, manage competing priorities, support financial processes, and work closely with providers, partners and internal teams to help ensure children and young people receive safe, effective and high-quality services.

What You'll Do

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
  • Act as the point of contract for the Commissioning Service, triaging enquiries and supporting smooth operational delivery
  • Provide high-quality administrative, financial and data management support
  • Coordinate and support meetings, panels and multi-agency processes
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance and performance tracking
  • Support the commissioning cycle, provider relationships and value-for-money activity
  • Help ensure positive outcomes for children, young people and families across North Yorkshire

• Self-motivated, someone who uses initiative, takes ownership and follows tasks through to completion.

• A creative problem-solver who can think ahead, spot issues early, and identify workable solutions.

• Is an excellent communicator, clear, professional and confident with a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, providers and internal colleagues.

• Confident in using IT Systems: comfortable using MS Office, databases and digital tools to manage information effectively.
