Short Description

The AB Rigger HDA supports safe deck operations on a heavy‑lift crane vessel, including rigging tasks, safety equipment checks, helicopter operations, and adherence to all offshore safety systems and procedures.

Function Description

The AB Rigger HDA works offshore on a heavy‑lift crane vessel in a rotational schedule across day and night shifts, performing rigging, deck operations, safety support, and Heli Deck Attendant duties. The role requires living and working in a communal offshore environment with varying weather, noise, and lighting conditions.

The position liaises with all personnel on board and reports to the Safety Officer or Chief Mate. The role includes responsibility for supporting safe operations, encouraging a proactive safety culture, and maintaining safety and lifesaving equipment in line with company procedures and offshore standards.

Requirements

Qualifications & Competencies
  • Offshore training in accordance with company and industry standards
  • Vessel, project, IIF, and safety induction training
  • Familiarity with offshore safety expectations and work management systems
  • Understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
  • Competence in hazard identification, risk assessment, and safe work practices
  • Ability to work with Permits to Work (PTW)
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, radio use, and hand signals
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans, and instructions

  • BOSIET (including HUET, EBS, Crew Basket)
  • STCW & OPITO‑approved medical certificate

Desirable / Additional Requirements
  • Lifting & Rigging course for deck personnel
  • Knowledge of INFOR, RACE, and eVision PTW systems
  • BST‑R / EBS
  • H₂S Awareness
  • Environmental & regulatory awareness
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year offshore SHE experience in a heavy‑lift environment (>3,000 mT)


This role requires strong offshore safety awareness, teamwork, and technical competence in rigging and HDA duties. Successful candidates will contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and supporting operational excellence on board the heavy‑lift vessel.
