This role serves as a key enabler of Castro India performance unit HSE&C (Health, Safety, Environment & Carbon) agenda, ensuring alignment with bp's Operating Management System (OMS) and regulatory expectations.
The HSSE&C role is a part of HSSE&C vertical reporting to India PU HSSE&C manager. The role will be responsible for partnering with manufacturing sites, process engineering and engineering project teams to drive various HSSE&C initiatives and Projects.

The HSSE&C role is a part of HSSE&C vertical reporting to India PU HSSE&C manager. The role will be responsible for partnering with manufacturing sites, process engineering and engineering project teams to drive various HSSE&C initiatives and Projects.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Implement HSSE strategy, policies, and standards across manufacturing and engineering projects.
- Integrate HSSE risk considerations into decision-making processes, especially in engineering and high-risk projects.
- Set and monitor HSE&C Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across manufacturing plants and support manufacturing units to drive delivery of those HSE&C KPIs and continual improvement initiatives.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable laws, including amendments to Plastic Waste Management Rules.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with bp's Operational Management System (OMS). Track OMS implementation progress and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
- Lead risk assessments, including the annual risk process, hazard identification, and control implementation.
- Oversee execution and monitoring of Barrier Improvement Plans and Safety Verification (SV) Protocols.
- Ensure strong incident reporting culture and manage incident classification, investigation, and learning deployment.
- Drive the deployment of key safety programs (e.g., Life-Saving Rules, Safe Loading Practices, PSF improvement).
- Lead PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) and PHSSER (Process HSSE Reviews) for critical processes and projects.
- Support high-risk project execution through risk evaluations and control implementation.
- Contribute to sustainability programs, including carbon reduction initiatives.
- Ensure and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications across manufacturing sites.
- Foster a safety-first culture through active engagement, consultation, and communication with plant teams.
- Support capability development in emerging areas like Human Factors and TIP (Task Improvement Process).
- Act as the HSE&C tag for India, leading and collaborating with the global HSSE&C team for initiatives driven centrally.
- Provide HSSE support to WH, logistics, and marine terminals within BP's reporting boundaries.
- Share incident learnings across units and ensure follow-up actions are effectively implemented.
- Act as local HSE&C tag for Technology ECP and provide support in project executions at manufacturing sites.
Education
- Graduate /Engineer in chemical or mechanical discipline with HSSE experience or a HSSE professional with a HSSE qualification from a reputed Govt/Institute or equivalent. (e.g. NEBOSH diploma) or graduate degree or equivalent experience desirable
- Minimum Work experience of 8-12 years in HSSE domain preferably from a FMCG or oil and gas industry
Skills & Proficiencies
- Professional with 8~12 years of relevant experience.
- Good knowledge of applicable HSSE regulatory requirements in factories/customer sites
- Exposure to Risk assessments by leading and participation
- Good understanding of risks in Greenfield/Brownfield projects
- Trained in Root cause analysis
- In depth Knowledge in Environment and Sustainability
- Hands-on experience in ISO 14001 and 45001 management systems
- Working knowledge of MS Office and similar tools. Knowledge of ERP system and implementation and automation experience will be an advantage.
