Wood is currently sourcing for a Senior Heavy Equipment & Boat Mechanic to join our team in Equatorial Guinea.
A Senior Heavy Equipment & Boat Mechanic is a highly skilled professional responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling heavy construction machinery and marine vessels (inboard/outboard engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components). This role requires advanced troubleshooting skills, often with little supervision, and the ability to train junior technicians.
Location: Onshore, Equatorial Guinea, West Africa
Rotation Work Pattern: 10 weeks on 3 weeks off, 7-day week 12-hour day

A Senior Heavy Equipment & Boat Mechanic is a highly skilled professional responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling heavy construction machinery and marine vessels (inboard/outboard engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components). This role requires advanced troubleshooting skills, often with little supervision, and the ability to train junior technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair complex diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, electrical, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipment ( ingersoll rand/ sullair air compressors, cranes (Tadano, gallion, groove), excavators (caterpillar, hitachi), forklifts (caterpillar, hyster, mitsubusi), bulldozers (caterpillar), Telehandlers (caterpillar with DEF), loaders (caterpillar), Manlifts (Genie) and marine equipment (propellers, bilge pumps, steering mechanisms), ensuring compliance with MEGPL approved maintenance plan, safety protocols and operational continuity
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections of all heavy equipment and boats used at MEGPL facility, in alignment with approved MEGPL preventive maintenance schedule and to the original equipment manufacturers recommendations to minimize downtime and optimize productivity
- Overhaul and rebuilding major components using specialized tools and equipment, ensuring safe execution of the tasks, compliance with MEGPL operational procedures and timely completion of the task
- Training and provide technical guidance to the national mechanics to promote safer, efficient and productive work environment in Heavy Equipment Shop and the entire MEGPL organization
QUALIFICATIONS

Essential requirements for this role:
Education & Experience:
- Proficiency in Microsoft office package is required
- Writing and speaking skills in English is required
- Technical or vocational School qualifications in Heavy Equipment & Boat mechanic is required
- 10 + years' experience in preventive and repair maintenance in construction heavy equipment and boats, including both shop and field-based activities, with comprehensive knowledge in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and power train systems
- 2-3 years' experience in oil and gas industry
Knowledge & Skills:
- A strong understanding of HES practices and the ability model of safety behaviors in every aspect of the maintenance trade
- Advance knowledge of systems, processes, and tools used within Heavy Equipment & boats maintenance with the ability to transfer that knowledge to national mechanics
- Advance knowledge of using different diagnostic software and be able to interpret troubleshooting code results
- Strong technical skills with crucial problem-solving ability, attention to details, deep commitment to safety supported by MEGPL safety culture, ability to read OEM manuals
