Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Manager. The Construction Manager will support Offshore projects within an Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCM) contract structure. This position plays a critical role in the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of construction projects, ranging from $250 and up into the Billions. The ideal candidate brings deep field leadership experience, strong project capabilities, and proven success managing construction projects of this scale. The Construction Manager assures the quality and integrity of each project, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget. Using in-house construction management procedures and experience, provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable control. Responsible for management and execution of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and in accordance with the company's
operating policies and principles. Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project. Manages and controls construction cost and schedule. Management of installation, commissioning and completion activities for hardware, plant and equipment.

Projects generally start in the engineering office, and later mobilize to to the project site. Projects are related to offshore facilities, and may be located are various sites around the world, however, the principal engineering work is typically developed at our office in Houston, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all aspects of construction management project of moderate size and complexity
  • Accountable for the overall contract construction effort and commissioning strategy; including safety, planning, cost and delivery of all field works on the Contract
  • Accountable for supervising, organising and co-ordinating head office, site construction and commissioning teams to provide high quality support in accordance with the Contract.
  • Responsible for ensuring full construction integration to project delivery by encouraging regular engineering, procurement and construction interface meetings
  • Ensure work pack and material delivery aligns with construction mobilisation
  • Provide construction expertise during FEED, Detail Design, in the form of constructability reviews, scope minimisation and ensuring safest and most efficient construction methods adopted
  • Actively engages with the other contractors / sub-contractors to ensure seamless delivery at site(s)
  • Engages with individual project teams to ensure correct level and sequence of Work Breakdown Structure adopted at project kick off.
  • Ensure all Site activities are performed in a safe, environmentally responsible manner with integrity and quality delivering HS&E targets
  • Oversight of home office team to ensure quality construction input to the integrated engineering and planning processes
  • Delivery of site teams to meet Client's business schedules
  • Delivery of reduced costs at site by continual review of performances and improvements by the site teams
  • Ensure the site construction and commissioning process with regard to the provision and use of corporate and project specific procedures, processes and systems
  • Monitor the competency and training requirements of all construction/ commissioning personnel
  • Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control
  • Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on site construction. Utilise Commercial processes to capture variations effectively
  • Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability,
  • Oversee and act as approver for construction work packs, ensuring clear activity breakdown and detailed narratives for all construction activities are in place. Ownership and approval of the construction technical deliverables to the required technical standards.
  • Contribute advanced discipline expertise to the ongoing development of project work methods, processes and team development.
  • Act as point of escalation and resolution for constructability issues at scope survey and engineering stage.
  • Accountable for delivery against agreed planned work scopes ensuring obligations are met by way of timely completion of work packs.
  • Check installation quality and subsequent verification are completed in accordance with requirements.
  • Participate in audits and incident investigations as required.
  • Lead the ongoing development of project work methods, processes and team development
  • Line management responsibilities including performance management and development for junior team members.
  • Interface with all on-site departments as required resolving problems, ensuring quality of construction, etc. in support of overall project schedule
  • Ensure construction activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule
  • Provide the first point of contact for business interfaces on construction activities.
  • Accountable for project safety management and performance.
  • Manage the quality, delivery aspects of the project

Expected:
  • 10+ years of experience managing international offshore construction projects with P&L Responsibility
  • Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through engineering degree and 12 years of experience or a minimum of 20 years of experience in a relevant industry
  • Proven capability supervising all engineering construction trades across mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, piping, and process disciplines.
  • Strong ability to work in a fast-paced EPCM environment
  • High accountability, consistent punctuality, and reliable daily onsite presence.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Experience working within an EPCM program structure.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Procore, Hoylu, and/or other similar construction management and scheduling tools.
