Roles and Responsibilities
The Fluids Lead Engineer will work in design activities for fluids products and systems. Activities will include the development of product requirements and definitions, changes in design, generate schematics, component selection, component mechanical integration and test plans definition. Besides, activities include technical definition of failure modes and supporting field investigations of products reported by customers.
He/She will also support projects through design reviews and will be available to provide technical advice to other peers, teams, customers and suppliers, as well as to help prepare the technical content of new product proposals to support bid activities, both in technical and budget discussions in forums with engine line leaders.
Also he/she will integrate and verify products and systems, and support products through conceptual design to validation and successful implementation in collaboration with other disciplines (controls, mechanical, performance, etc.). Additionally, he/she will be available to support the diagnosis and fix design problems in existing products (Root Cause Analysis).
Activities will include, but not be limited to the following with support of senior engineers:

- Design for safety, testability, and manufacturability
- Define Fluids Hardware architecture (pumps, valves, actuators, heat-exchangers, starters etc.)
- Select fluids components for rugged environments
- Schematic generation
- Project management activities
- Collaborate in manufacturing support activities
- Coordinate and support root cause analysis
- Support mechanical design, software, test engineering, and manufacturing
- Support qualification and acceptance testing
- Lead or contribute to fluids system trade studies
- Develop innovative designs and system architectures that meet and exceed stringent design requirements and goals
- Work collaboratively with adjacent disciplines and partners in a matrix organizational structure (reporting in indirect lines to more than one stakeholder)
- Implement plans to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems
- Lead and participate in technical and engine program reviews
- Provide technical support to personnel and cross functional teams supporting the assigned projects
- Develop and implement plans with expert guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned systems and components
- Lead effectively team initiatives (innovation, cost, others) that impact business and customer: seeks for and communicates opportunities to improve (innovation, cost, businesses processes)
- Develop action plans with guidance to respond to issues / problems
- Recommend, with guidance, the approach to meet the technical and program requirements
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- This role requires at least 6+ years of significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & fluids hardware
- Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
- Considerable experience developing of fluids components
- In depth understanding of principles of fuel & lube systems
- Experience defining requirements, developing specifications and selecting fluids components for commercial engines, and ability to work with suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met
- Ability to support the diagnosis of technical issues in fluids systems and to develop practical solutions suitable for manufacture
- The candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership on complex technical problem solutions as well as to check own and other people's work
- The candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of improving design techniques and processes
- Capable of developing and writing specifications for fluids components
- Strong oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English
- Clarity to define technical schedule cost and/or program requirements. See and understand the bigger picture of what is required in a project or program, where it needs to go, and how it will get there.
