Our supply and trading business, Trading & Shipping (ST&S), connects BP to the world's traded markets for oil, gas, power, refinery feedstocks and currencies. We market BP's equity crude oil and natural gas, import feedstocks for our refinery system and buy products to meet marketing demand. ST&S executes physical and financial trades with external counter parties and customers, both on behalf of BP's businesses, coordinating physical supply and exposure; as well as for entrepreneurial purposes using market intelligence data.

The role of the 3rd Party Team is to ensure trades are recorded and settled (payments and receivables) in an accurate and timely manner. This requires a thorough understanding of the deal life cycle (from trade execution through to physical delivery and final settlement). Transactions can be very high value and with complex terms and conditions, requiring efficient problem solving skills.

The 3rd Party Settlements Team is responsible for coordinating operational cash and working capital on behalf of ST&S (c70% of bp's turnover is managed through the ST&S 3rd Party Teams). The team produces a daily cash funding forecast for Treasury Management purposes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operates the day-to-day Cash and Banking procedures
  • Daily payment Runs
  • Currency payments
  • Internal Account Transfers
  • Cash Allocation
  • Month End
  • Performs cash forecasting in line with BP requirements
  • Accountable for overseeing delivery of silent running, accurate and timely recording of all cash transactions
  • Supports the lead accountant to ensure that the Cash processes are aligned with the Group Treasury Policies and AML Cash Assurance Process
  • Monitor and coordinate KPI collections and distribution to business stakeholders
  • Act as project expert of any cash related project
  • Ensure all reconciling items are followed up on a timely basis; Balance Sheet Integrity process is compliant with Group Reporting Manual.
  • Liaise with other teams to ensure smooth monthly/quarterly close
  • Manage aged debt and cash forecasting
  • Deal with a wide variety of ad-hoc queries timely and escalate as appropriate
  • Identify and assist in delivering continuous Improvement ideas
  • Actively participate and support projects as appropriate
  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service in order to build and strengthen relationships

Job Requirement:

  • Relevant finance degree and minimum of 2-5 years of experience finance or accounting
  • Understanding of Accounts Payable and Receivable settlement principles
  • SAP experience
  • Developing and delivering Continuous Improvements ideas (e.g. process change and/or automation & reporting changes)
  • Added advantage - experience in trading settlements & understanding of commodity trading lifecycle (deal execution/entry to settlement) is an advantage.
  • highly analytical, diligent professional with strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced team environment, demonstrating excellent work ethics, and staying composed under pressure.

  • Self-confident appearance in relations to the internal contacts
