In which organization will you work as an Expeditor / Quality Inspector?

We are currently looking, on behalf of one of our clients in the energy sector, for an Expeditor / Quality Inspector, based in Nanterre.

Expeditor / Quality Inspector: What will your missions and responsibilities be?

We are seeking a Vendor Performance Coordinator (VPC) to join our client's team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Project Vendor Performance activities for assigned Purchase Orders, in coordination with shop expeditors and inspectors, to ensure that supplies comply with contractual requirements throughout the execution phase. This includes monitoring delivery schedules, manufacturing processes, and quality standards to ensure timely and compliant deliveries.

You will work closely with VPM Lead Coordinators, VPM Managers, and their deputies to support Vendor Performance Management activities, ensuring continuous improvement as well as adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

This position will be based in the Paris office.

Main responsibilities:
  • Define expediting and inspection levels based on the Project Criticality Analysis
  • Perform, coordinate, and be accountable for all VPM activities, including expediting and inspection for assigned Purchase Orders
  • Ensure compliance of supplies with contractual requirements throughout PO execution (execution plan, delivery schedule, manufacturing quality standards)
  • Ensure timely availability and maturity of all documentation required for VPM activities to avoid disruption to PO execution
  • Maintain and update IT tools dedicated to VPM activities, ensuring proper tracking and validation
  • Analyze supplier documentation, monitor PO execution, and share key highlights, risks, and concerns with the project team
  • Ensure supplier production schedules are issued on time and cover all activities (engineering, sub-orders, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and delivery)
  • Identify and escalate any critical paths or events that may impact delivery timelines or quality; assess risks and coordinate mitigation and recovery plans until resolution
  • Review VPM deliverables (Pre-Inspection and Pre-Fabrication Meeting reports, Expediting Reports, Inspection Reports, Inspection Release Notes) before distribution
  • Ensure proactive and rigorous management of PO execution, anticipate key VPM activities, and raise alerts in case of risks or issues
  • Support and coach other VPM coordinators when required
  • Contribute to supplier and inspection agency performance evaluations
  • Manage interfaces with Project, Client, and Suppliers as the single point of contact for assigned Purchase Orders
  • Issue assignment requests/POs and requisitions for expeditors and inspectors in coordination with Resource Management, ensuring compliance with project requirements
  • Organize and participate in VPM-related meetings (pre-inspection, handover, etc.) and contribute to project meetings as needed
  • Prepare reports and KPIs related to VPM activities and monitor the man-hours budget for assigned POs

Reporting line: The consultant will report to the Project VP Manager.

What profile and skills are required for this Expeditor / Quality Inspector position?
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Engineering...) or Business/Management school
  • At least 15 years of experience in inspection, quality, engineering, manufacturing, supplier development, supplier quality, and/or project management
  • Proven leadership and project management skills within areas such as PVHE, packages, piping/valves, E&I, Long Lead Items (LLI), etc.
  • Experience with Material Management Systems (e.g., Smart Materials - Intergraph)
  • Professional level of English, both written and spoken
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an understanding of overall business impact
  • Good communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization
