Which department will you be part of? - Home Office Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Preparation

We are currently looking, on behalf of one of our clients in the energy sector, for a Home Office Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Preparation Engineer, based in Nanterre.

Home Office Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Preparation: What will your missions and responsibilities be?

You will be responsible for the preparation and planning of Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning (PC&C) activities to be carried out for FEED projects and EPC proposals, in accordance with contractual requirements, quality standards, allocated budget, project schedule, and local regulations. You will report to the Onshore PCC Activity Manager.

Main duties & responsibilities:

• Ensure that preparation activities are carried out with quality and in compliance with PC&C schedule, budget, and contract requirements during EPC/FEED projects at the Paris Office Center.
• Report any technical findings or potential safety issues to the line manager.
• Coordinate with the different engineering disciplines involved in the project design to ensure PC&C requirements are properly integrated into the detailed design.
• Prepare and update procedures, method statements, and technical studies, incorporating project and client comments when applicable.
• Develop Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning sequences to meet project requirements (utilities tie-ins, line cleaning interfaces, blowing, functional prerequisites, etc.).
• Follow up on Completion & Handover strategy and define scope by Construction Work Areas / Systems.
• Prepare technical studies and estimates for key PC&C activities such as steam blowing, cooling water commissioning, refractory dry-out, fuel gas introduction, and chemical cleaning.
• Prepare and/or review scopes of work for Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning subcontractors and evaluate their offers.
• Liaise with company representatives, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure strong coordination and efficient communication between project teams.
• Identify potential improvements in work processes and share lessons learned to enhance overall quality.
• Perform benchmarking on specialized activities and develop estimation tools based on scope, key quantities, and benchmarks.

Note: The PC&C Engineer will work closely on a daily basis with the Onshore Activity Manager.

Tasks:

• Review and comment on PFDs, P&IDs, and discipline drawings to provide commissioning and start-up inputs and technical requirements.
• Define the Systems List to support schedule preparation.
• Develop commissioning sequences and collaborate with the planning team to build detailed Level 1/2/3 PC&C schedules.
• Support the subcontracting team in defining scope of work, roles, and responsibilities for site subcontracted activities.
• Develop method statements and project procedures related to commissioning and start-up activities.
• Participate in supplier clarifications and bidding processes to ensure commissioning and start-up requirements are considered in design.
• Coordinate with all disciplines involved in project execution and participate in key multidisciplinary reviews (3D model, HAZOP, P&ID reviews, etc.) to ensure all commissioning requirements are addressed in engineering documentation.
• Prepare Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning specifications and procedures in line with engineering progress, contractual requirements, and project standards.
• Develop tools and methodologies for vendors, spare parts, tools, consumables, and temporary equipment to support estimations.
• Review engineering technical specifications and supplier documentation.
• Prepare and contribute to technical workshops and weekly/monthly PC&C progress reports.

What profile and skills are required for this position?

• Master's degree in Engineering
• Proven experience in Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning with a Process Engineering background (minimum 3 years)
• Proficiency in MS Office, PDF or Bluebeam, and 3D modeling tools; additional knowledge of completion tools (Icaps, Easyplant, etc.) and/or process simulation software (Hysys, Flarenet, etc.) is a plus
• Practical mindset with excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Previous experience in the Onshore or Offshore Oil & Gas industry in a similar or relevant role
• Initial site experience required, with a good understanding of risks and opportunities related to site activities and brownfield constraints
