- Job Purpose:
The Driver Trainer delivers effective training, coaching, and assessments on driving standards and the safe operation of both heavy and light vehicles. This role ensures drivers meet or exceed established company and industry standards, complying with all relevant regulations, safety requirements, and best practices.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver classroom and in-vehicle driver training for both heavy and light vehicles in accordance with company standards and local regulations.
- Assess driver skills and behavior for heavy and light vehicles through practical assessments and theoretical evaluations; provide actionable feedback and improvement plans as needed.
- Remain updated with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements, core safety rules, and all vehicle policies.
- Maintain accurate and auditable training and assessment records for all participants.
- Support the implementation of journey management protocols, including route assessments, journey authorization, and fatigue management education.
- Participate in vehicle incident/accident investigations, contributing to analysis and the development of corrective actions.
- Conduct periodic refresher training and driving assessments as required by company standards.
- Advise supervisors and management regarding driver competency, retraining needs, and ensure compliance with defensive driving and in-vehicle monitoring requirements.
- Promote the reporting of driving hazards or near-miss events in an open and non-punitive environment.
- Minimum Requirements:
- Certified as a professional driver/trainer or holds relevant national driving instructor credentials.
- Possession of valid and current licenses for both heavy and light vehicles, as required by local law.
- Proficient in English and the local business language(s) with strong verbal and written communication abilities to train a diverse workforce.
- In-depth knowledge of driving standards, safety rules, and journey management concepts.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to coach and motivate others effectively.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection in all activities.
- Experience with in-vehicle monitoring systems (IVMS) and data analysis tools (preferred).
