Wood is recruiting for a Construction Manager to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting an LNG project under development. The role will operate as part of the Owner's Project Delivery team, providing construction leadership and oversight from a project and execution assurance perspective.

The Role

The Construction Manager ensures the safe, high‑quality, and schedule‑driven delivery of construction scopes through effective coordination with EPC contractors, engineering teams, and stakeholders. The role provides construction management oversight to ensure delivery in accordance with project design, specifications, budgets, schedules, and Owner standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables
  • Supervises all areas on small projects and / or a subset / discipline on larger projects
  • Responsible for management and execution of multiple field disciplines or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and in accordance with the company's operating policies and principles.
  • Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project.
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned disciplines / subset of on-site construction.
  • Management of installation, commissioning and completion activities of materials and equipment.
  • Coordinates field personnel work schedules to maximize utilization and ensure work is delivered on schedule
  • Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.
  • Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control
  • Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions
  • Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on-site construction. Utilise Commercial processes to capture variations effectively
  • Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, accommodation and other project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract document specifications and in accordance with Wood Policies & Procedures
  • Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required
  • Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability
  • Coordinates and supervises operational delivery of a moderate sized team of site construction personnel, does not have ongoing line management responsibility
  • Work is performed under general direction and is reviewed for conformance with policies and general efficiency. Receives limited supervision.
  • Actions and decisions typically have a significant influence on the medium-term operational and financial results of a project and some influence on the longer-term results. Line management of small team.


QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Construction Engineering
  • Minimum 15-20 years of experience in construction management, preferably on LNG projects
  • DOSH construction certification highly preferred
  • Proven ability to manage contractors and subcontractors in complex environments
  • Familiarity with quality control, commissioning readiness, and construction close-out processes

Key Skills:
  • Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant industry
