What's the role

Shell Mobility Malaysia operates a nationwide network of over 1,000 Shell service stations, with Convenience Retailing playing a critical role in the business. As the network and business continue to grow, Convenience Retailing remains a key growth engine within Shell's downstream operations.

To meet evolving customer needs and changing market trends, Shel Mobility is accelerating the growth of its Food Services portfolio, led by in‑house brands such as Shell Café and Deli2Go. Food Services is a key differentiator in the convenience retail offering, driving customer choice, loyalty, and overall value creation.

To support this growth ambition, we are seeking a Food Services Category Manager to lead and deliver sustainable growth across the Food Services category, working end‑to‑end to strengthen performance, execution, and customer experience across the retail network.

This role is an individual contributor and will report to the Head of Foodservices & Partnership.

What you'll be doing

Responsibility includes:

1. Lead Food Services category strategy, including product development and range expansion, using the 4Ps framework (Product, Pricing, Promotion, and Placement). This including private label opportunities.

2. Drive brand building initiatives for Food Services and create strong synergies with the Drinks / Non‑Alcoholic Beverages (NAB) category.

3. Own and manage the P&L for the Food Services category, including margin optimization and performance tracking.

4. Collaborate closely with Supply Chain and suppliers to ensure timely logistics, effective stock management, and smooth delivery execution.

5. Lead customer value proposition (CVP) and food offer development, ensuring differentiation aligned with evolving customer needs and trends.

6. Ensure Food Services marketing and promotional activities (Shell Café / Deli2Go) are fully integrated with fuels, convenience retail, payment, loyalty, and digital mobility platforms.

7. Ensure promotion excellence and Day 1 readiness across the retail network. Lead annual category planning and conduct regular sales and business reviews with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and partners.

8. Manage supplier contracts, acting as the primary commercial interface with Food Services partners.

9. Partner with Operations Lead/Team to execute food handling SOP, training, and capability‑building initiatives for Sales & Operations teams, and frontline staff.

10. Develop innovative solutions to address supply chain challenges, including improving accessibility and execution in East Malaysia.

11. Interface with global category teams, providing required reporting and implementing global initiatives or agreements locally where applicable.

12. Ensure full compliance with the Shell's relevant framework and standards.

What you bring

• Minimum 8 years' experience in professional Food & Beverage and/or Retail Category Management.
• Proven ability to build and manage effective stakeholder relationships across multiple levels and functions.
• Strong curiosity and passion for Food Services, with a solid understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain and retail operations.
• Strong commercial acumen with a business‑driven, entrepreneurial mindset to deliver end‑to‑end value creation and integrated margin optimisation.
• Demonstrated experience in contract management, including identifying opportunities to optimise value and minimise value leakage.
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, with a proven ability to deliver results through others.
• Strong analytical capability, able to analyse key business drivers and translate insights into effective corrective actions.
• Experience in marketing planning, including collaboration on commercial and promotional strategies.
• Proven track record of operational delivery and excellence in a retail or foodservice environment.
• Decisive and agile decision‑maker, able to multitask effectively with strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities, including a learner mindset and the ability to engage, motivate, and inspire stakeholders.

Travelling:

Willingness to travel on an as‑needed basis.

Language (Verbal & Written):

Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
