Wood is recruiting for a Tank Welder for a 6‑month contract on a heavy industry tank project, based at a client site in Teesside, starting April 2026.

The Role

Location: Teesside
Hours of work: 10 hours per day (9.5 hours paid)
Work pattern: 12‑day fortnight
Duration: 6 months

This is an fixed term Trade & Craft role supporting tank and structural steel welding works within a heavy industrial environment.
Applicants must have proven tank welding experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out TIG and Manual Metal Arc (MMA / Stick) welding
  • Perform Arc Air Gouging for weld preparation and repair activities
  • Weld on tank projects, including tanks, vessels, and associated components
  • Complete structural steel welding to project specifications
  • Read and interpret welding drawings and procedures
  • Ensure weld quality meets industry and client standards
  • Work safely within a live heavy industrial environment
  • Comply with Wood and client health, safety, and quality requirements
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition


QUALIFICATIONS

Skills/Qualifications

You will bring proven tank welding experience, a strong safety mindset, and pride in delivering quality work on complex industrial projects.
  • Proven experience as a Tank Welder in heavy industry
  • Competent in TIG and MMA (Stick) welding
  • Experience using Arc Air Gouging
  • Demonstrable experience on tank welding projects
  • Experience welding structural steel
  • Background working in heavy industry (e.g. petrochemical, power, process, heavy engineering)
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Welding
  • CCSNG Safety Passport
  • PAss a pre-employment medical
  • Pass a pre-employment weld test
