Community Caretaker & Safety Officer

Location: Across North Wales Housing communities
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary:£30,957 per annum
Contract: Permanent

About the role

At North Wales Housing, keeping our communities safe, clean and well cared for is at the heart of what we do. We're looking for a Community Caretaker & Safety Officer to play a hands-on role in supporting residents and maintaining safe, welcoming environments across our housing schemes.

This is a varied, practical role that combines caretaking, community safety checks, specialist cleaning and waste management, working closely with colleagues across the organisation. You'll be visible in our communities and trusted by residents, helping to spot issues early and make a real difference every day.

What you'll be doing

• • Carrying out fire safety and compliance checks, including inspections, minor repairs and incident reporting
  • Supporting community safety by identifying hazards and taking action where appropriat
  • Completing specialist cleaning tasks, including:
  • Fly-tipping and waste clearance
  • Damp and mould management
  • Biohazard and needle sweeps
  • Dog fouling and pest control
  • Carpet, window and pre-decoration cleaning
  • Undertaking void property clearances and deep cleans prior to re-let
  • Supporting environmentally responsible waste disposal, recycling and reuse
  • Carrying out routine inspections, minor repairs and maintenance tasksSupporting sensitive situations, such as hoarding clearances, with professionalism and care
  • Liaising with residents, colleagues, contractors and local authorities
  • Supporting access to properties for compliance and regulatory works
  • Monitoring fire safety, energy usage and taking meter readings
  • Keeping accurate records and reporting concerns promptly

About you

You'll enjoy working out in the community and take pride in keeping shared spaces safe and well maintained.

You'll need:

• • Experience working in cleaning, caretaking or maintenance environments
  • A strong understanding of health and safety, including fire safety and COSHH
  • Experience completing compliance checks and incident reporting
  • A customer-focused, respectful approach when working with residents
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • A practical, problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage physical work, including lifting and manual handling
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to complete a Basic DBS check
