Distribution Operations sits at the core of fuels and energy delivery, serving Mobility, Aviation, CRT, and emerging energy solutions such as RNG, LNG, and Hydrogen. The business maximizes asset value while advancing lower‑carbon solutions, digitalization, and automation-driving world‑class safety, resilient supply chains, and reduced emissions to support Shell's energy transition ambitions.
Where You Fit In
As the Road Transport Contract Manager, you will drive successfully in Non-dedicated, Outsource Scheduling (NDOS) and Mode 1 RT Contracts. Key deliverables include managing Road Transport Operations to maximize E2E value, enabling reliable and flexible customer service, cost-competitive RT delivery, and flawless HSSE performance. Success requires being an active member of a high-performing RT Team, with a continuous improvement mindset and influencing RT Contractors to deliver additional value to Shell.

The RT Contract Manager is responsible for unlocking NDOS benefits and transitioning to a performance focus aligned with Shell's Performance Framework (SPF) in Fuels delivery. - Deliver the full strategic and commercial value of road transport contracts through effective contract and performance management.
- Drive continuous cost, service, and performance improvements with road transport contractors using scorecards and structured performance reviews.
- Enable safe, reliable, flexible, compliant, and efficient end‑to‑end road transport services.
- Collaborate closely with Supply, Mobility, Commercial, and other end‑to‑end stakeholders to support business objectives.
- Develop, implement, and regularly refresh the road transport contracting strategy aligned with the RT strategy and contracting cycle.
- Lead contract setup, amendments, and in‑contract renegotiations in partnership with Contracting & Procurement.
- Monitor market trends, industry costs, and regulatory changes, maintaining strong relationships with existing and new road transport contractors.
- Drive operational excellence by implementing applicable standards, tools, outsourced scheduling models, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
- Foster a strong performance culture through incentives, dynamic scoping, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure business continuity readiness, manage claims and disputes, and lead road transport response during supply disruptions.
- Provide visible HSSE leadership, embedding a risk‑based, performance‑driven safety culture aligned with SPF, SEAM, Safe Fuels Delivery, and IOGP standards.
- Support Shell's Powering Progress strategy by driving CO² reduction, sustainability and decarbonization initiatives, contributing to business development, MoC processes, and transport system transformations.
What we need from you

- You will need to be capable of leading without authority, leading Contractors to identify and deliver both CI and performance improvement on behalf of Shell.
- You will champion a Learner Mindset in all aspects of the role, both in terms of self-learning as well as coaching others throughout Road Transport team and RT Contractor to create a strong human performance culture.
- You will be skilled in building and growing trust with internal stakeholders as well as with external stakeholders.
- You will be excellent at stakeholder management and partner centricity as you drive joined up value delivery.
- Experienced in commercial delivery through others to achieve complex outcomes
- High ability to influence stakeholders to deliver maximum E2E value.
- Willingness to lead and influence a community of RT Contractor and drivers towards Goal Zero.
Professional Experience:
- Master, Bachelor or equivalent degree in logistics / economics / business administration or proven long term work experience within Road Transport Operations
- Around 8+ years' experience in one or more of the following areas: Road Transport Operations, Contract Management, Order to Delivery Operations, Mobility fuels interface
- Proven commercial mindset to deliver YoY value improvement opportunities
- Demonstrated strong can-do mindset with the curiosity to continuously improve and bring innovative ideas to the team
- Knowledge of Shell HSSE standards, transportation of hazardous goods and local legislation (i.e. ADR)
