Your role and responsibilities:

ABB is seeking an experienced IS Operation Manager with SAP Basis responsibilities to join our global IT organization. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in managing SAP ECC 6.0, SAP BW, and SAP GRC systems running on AIX and Linux with DB2 databases, as well as solid experience with SAP S/4HANA (private or public cloud).

This role requires proven leadership capabilities, including the operational management of SAP BASIS teams and close collaboration with SAP stakeholders across the ABB Group.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Administration and maintenance of SAP ECC, BW, GRC, and S/4HANA systems across AIX/Linux environments
• End-to-end DB2 database management (performance tuning, backups, recovery, audits, optimization)
• Coordination and operational leadership of SAP BASIS team to ensure system availability and performance
• Management and delivery of SAP projects, including upgrades, migrations, and patching
• System monitoring, performance optimization, and capacity planning
• Administration of SAP security, users, authorizations, and Transport Management System (TMS)
• Management of SAP integrations (interfaces, RFC, web services) and collaboration with global stakeholders
• Disaster recovery planning, documentation, and support for landscape optimization and cloud migration
• Occasional travel within Italy and abroad may be required

Qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, with 5-7+ years of SAP BASIS experience
• Strong expertise in SAP ECC 6.0 and S/4HANA (RISE and on-premise), including NetWeaver architecture
• Advanced database skills (DB2 preferred) and SAP HANA administration, including performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability
• Solid knowledge of AIX and Linux systems, plus SAP Transport Management, system upgrades, migrations, and change processes
• Experience with SAP security, Solution Manager, integrations, and modern technologies (Fiori, BTP, Cloud Connector)
• Proven leadership in managing SAP BASIS teams, with strong team-building and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated success in delivering complex SAP projects end-to-end and coordinating global, distributed teams
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities, vendors, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Fluent English (written and spoken) - essential for global collaboration
