What environment will you work in as a Site Planning Engineer?

We are currently looking, on behalf of one of our clients in the energy sector, for a Site Planning Engineer, based in Grandpuits.

Site Planning Engineer - Roles & Responsibilities

The Planner reports to the Lead Planner and is responsible for a dedicated project area.

As the owner of this area, the Planner ensures continuous monitoring of project planning (Level 2/3), covering engineering and material delivery. They identify trends requiring corrective planning actions and keep the construction team informed of any changes.

Project Planning & Construction Monitoring
  • Develop the Level 3 project schedule based on activities, units, and subcontracting strategy, including key milestones
  • Prepare input data for monthly progress reporting
  • Implement and update progress tracking systems (by contract, discipline, quantities, and resources)
  • Ensure consistency between the Level 3 project schedule and subcontractors' detailed schedules (Level 4)
  • Analyze subcontractor resources and recommend adjustments when necessary

Schedule Control & Analysis
  • Monitor progress andanticipate schedule deviations, assessing impacts on the overall project schedule
  • Identify gaps and propose corrective actions
  • Analyze delays related to deliveries and resolve bottlenecks
  • Monitor scope changes and perform delay analysis (EOT - Extension of Time)

Reporting & Tools
  • Update installed quantities, manpower forecasts, progress curves, and histograms
  • Produce progress reports and variance analysis (planned vs actual)
  • Revise schedules and adjust execution logic

Coordination & Site Interface
  • Participate in coordination meetings with subcontractors
  • Manage interfaces: mobilization, site access, and demobilization
  • Monitor work completion and recommend acceptance and final payments

Planning Risk Management
  • Identify and trackplanning risks and issues
  • Analyze events impacting the schedule and report to project management
  • Propose optimization actions to improve overall project performance


Site Planning Engineer - Profile & Required Skills

Core Competencies - Industrial Project Planning
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in project planning within industrial environments
  • Strong experience in revamping projects in the petrochemical industry
  • Proven expertise in planning and progress monitoring (engineering, procurement, construction)
  • Ability to calculate and analyze physical and certified progress

Project Management & Coordination
  • Experience in procurement, logistics, and construction work packages follow-up
  • Planning and monitoring of engineering activities
  • Good understanding and use of engineering documentation
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders (project teams, suppliers, subcontractors)

Tools & Systems
  • Proficiency in:
    • Primavera P6
    • MS Project (2016 version)
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Experience with project and supplier databases (PDB, VDBx, SDBx)

Languages
  • Professional level of English
