Job Description:

bp is looking for a commercially aware and highly organised Operational Excellence and Dealer Performance Lead to strengthen the performance, governance, and operational discipline of our retail network in South Africa.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment and enjoys combining operations, performance management, governance, dealer engagement, and transformation support into one impactful position.

You will play a central role in driving operational excellence across the dealer network by improving structures, supporting business-critical forums, tracking performance, coordinating dealer lifecycle activities, and ensuring high standards of compliance, reporting, and documentation. This is a role for someone who can bring structure, visibility, and executional discipline to complex operational priorities.

What You Will Do

As the Operational Excellence and Dealer Performance Lead, you will support the consistent execution of operational and dealer performance priorities across the network. Your responsibilities will include:

Governance and Operational Coordination

  • Coordinate governance forums including NEC, Working Groups, and Focus Groups.
  • Manage meeting schedules, agendas, documentation, minutes, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain central repositories and shared documentation to support visibility and accountability.

Dealer Performance and Reporting

  • Design, maintain, and improve dealer performance scorecards and reporting tools.
  • Track quarterly performance trends, incentive measures, and operational indicators.
  • Support reporting initiatives that improve visibility of dealer and network performance.

Stakeholder Engagement and Enterprise Development

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including NEF, SEDFA, and DMRE.
  • Support transformation initiatives, B-BBEE reporting, and enterprise development activities.
  • Help ensure that strategic transformation priorities are properly tracked and supported.

Dealer Lifecycle and Network Support

  • Manage dealer onboarding and change-of-hand processes.
  • Support franchisee lease renewals and dealer-related communications.
  • Coordinate site-for-sale processes and stakeholder updates.
  • Assist with dealer engagement roadshows, conferences, and related logistics.

Standards, Compliance and Documentation

  • Maintain dealer operational manuals, training materials, and process documentation.
  • Ensure document management systems are accurate, organised, and audit-ready.
  • Support compliance discipline through effective process control and record keeping.

Commercial and Operational Support

  • Coordinate consignment stock conversion activities with relevant stakeholders.
  • Calculate CPI-linked rental increases and support approval submissions.
  • Contribute to dashboards, profitability models, and ad hoc operational analysis.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Education

  • Bachelor's degree in:
    • Business Management
    • Operations Management
    • Commerce
    • or a related field

Advantageous Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification
  • Project Management certification
  • Change Management certification
  • Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence certification

Essential Experience

  • Proven years of experience in retail operations, dealer/franchise management, or operational excellence
  • Experience working in a multi-site retail, dealer, or franchise environment
  • Experience coordinating governance forums, working groups, or operational committees
  • Experience managing cross-functional operational initiatives
  • Exposure to enterprise development, transformation, or B-BBEE reporting is preferred
