Job Description:

As a Supply Operator, own the scheduling and execution of fuel supply across New Zealand, ensuring secure, safe, and cost‑competitive delivery to customers while maximising commercial value for bp. You will manage day‑to‑day contract operations and lead forward supply planning to develop an optimised supply programme that balances value, risk, and working capital.

This role is accountable for supply security for bp New Zealand (BPNZ), operational relationships with internal teams and external counterparties, and compliance with bp's safety, operational, and governance standards. You will be part of the ANZ Midstream Operations field, working closely with Supply Optimisation, Negotiation, Logistics, T&S, Infrastructure and joint‑venture partners across Australia and New Zealand.

What you will deliver

  • End‑to‑end supply scheduling and contract operations:

Own the month and month + 1 scheduling and execution of buy/sell contracts, managing deliveries and offtakes via pipeline, truck, rail and vessel. Monitor product movements daily, resolve volume discrepancies, and ensure reliable, contract‑compliant supply.

  • Forward planning and supply chain optimisation:

Lead Month + 2 and beyond forward planning, integrating demand forecasts, infrastructure constraints, maintenance schedules and supply options. Partner with Supply Optimisation, Negotiation and T&S to maximise commercial and option value while protecting supply security.

  • Import nominations and shipping coordination:

Nominate import requirements to T&S, coordinate shipping schedules, and support accurate communication of vessel movements and delivery plans to internal teams and third‑party customers in line with contractual obligations.

  • Stakeholder and counterparty management:

Build strong, effective relationships with internal teams (Negotiation, Logistics, Infrastructure, NOJV, Product Quality, Sales) and external partners including terminal operators, shipping agents, ports and other oil companies-balancing commercial tension with supply security.

  • Financial, working capital and pricing exposure management:

Manage supply plans within agreed working capital limits and pricing exposure thresholds. Provide inputs to demurrage tracking, working capital processes and performance reviews, collaborating closely with Finance and Supply Optimisation.

  • Risk, compliance and event response leadership:

Respond quickly to unplanned supply disruptions, quality events or infrastructure constraints. Lead or participate in coordinated responses, ensure accurate SAP ticketing and data integrity, and operate in full compliance with bp's Code of Conduct, Delegation of Authority and safety standards.

What you will need to be successful

  • Education & foundation knowledge: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Commerce or a related field, with a strong understanding of refinery product supply chains including trading, shipping and terminal operations.
  • Supply chain & operational expertise: Proven experience in operational or supply chain environments, with solid knowledge of supply chain optimisation, contract management, import logistics and refinery or terminal operations.
  • Commercial, financial & risk capability: Understanding of working capital management, pricing and exposure management, commercial risk, demurrage, and internal controls, with the ability to interpret performance versus plan.
  • Product quality & compliance awareness: Knowledge of product quality management, specifications, seasonal and regional variations, and product quality risk management.
  • Data, analysis & systems skills: Ability to work confidently with large, complex datasets; strong analytical and modelling skills; and experience ensuring accurate volume accounting and SAP data integrity.
  • Collaboration, resilience & leadership: Strong player who communicates clearly under pressure, builds consensus across diverse collaborators, demonstrates informal leadership, adapts positively to change, and maintains a delivery‑focused approach.

At bp, we provide the following environment and benefits to you:
