JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood Process & Energy is seeking an experienced construction professional with multi-disciplinary experience and a proven track record in overseeing and coordinating on-site activities, ensuring project scope is completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards for a high-profile client.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in Construction projects across constructability, construction execution, CDM, development of construction strategies, input to planning.
The role will be based on the client site in Ayrshire, Southwest Scotland. A background in Agricultural, Pharmaceuticals, Batch Chemical production facilities or similar process industry experience would be advantageous. This role would be supporting the portfolio of Capital Projects and delivery of equipment and facilities on a site undergoing consistent and varied investment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the appointed contractors and sub-contractors appointed to disinvest, construct pre-commission and commission where applicable process plant, equipment and facilities, supporting the Construction Manager and Project Management teams.
- Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables including where necessary preparation of Construction Work Packs, including the associated engineering interfaces.
- Supervises all areas on small projects or a subset / discipline area on moderate-sized projects.
- Responsible for management and execution of a single field discipline or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and in accordance with the company's operating policies and principles and construction handbook and supporting mandatory and best practices.
- Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project.
- Oversight of the project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of onsite construction.
- Management of installation, handover to commissioning and completion activities for some materials, plant and equipment, familiar with Completions Management Systems and processes would be advantageous.
- Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan, including prepare and submit a daily surveillance and progress report.
- Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control.
- Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions.
- Ensure suitable and sufficient setting to work processes are applied for their areas of responsibility and project
- Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements.
- Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, temporary facilities, accommodation, and other project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract document specifications and Wood Policies & Procedures
- Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required.
- Works with Engineering disciplines in the detailed design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability.
- Participate in detailed Constructability, HAZCON and Readiness Reviews
QUALIFICATIONS
- Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience OR trade discipline qualified with a minimum 10-year relevant practical experience.
- Have a broad and deep technical knowledge of construction discipline and associated processes.
- Ability to identify risk to delivery and build in mitigation / contingency plans.
- Substantial experience of interpreting discipline documentation.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard in Construction (HAZCON)
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of technical specifications, codes and standards.
- Comprehensive understanding of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) Regulations 2015.
- Demonstrable experience in the role of Principal Contractor and CDM duties throughout the execution phase of the project, in conjunction with an understanding of Client, Principal Designer and Designer Duties
- Awareness of Temporary Works, and an understanding of the requirements for design and construction of site Temporary Works (TW).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Suitable academic qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline or appropriate level of field construction experience or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
- Vocational Qualification such as NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management an advantage

- CSCS
- CCNSG

- Demonstrable experience in the management of multi disciplined projects

- Strong effective delegation skills
- Exposure and familiar with working within a technical environment.
