Short description
The Business Performance Senior Analyst contributes to the delivery of business planning and performance management products to a large Oil and Gas producing business. The role will involve partnering with the onsite technical and finance teams based in different geographies on an ongoing basis to gain a deep understanding of the business context for the area. A key objective of the role is to deliver insightful financial products that enable business financial performance management and to support decision making in the operation of the business.
As the role supports a business based USA, the role involves shift working and will involve evening working in Pune, India from 2pm -11pm.
What will you deliver?
• Performance Management: Prepare timely, accurate and reliable financial and management information to support business decisions. Prepare and explain material for business performance leadership team discussions to include key messages, analysis and insights. Provide performance insights to business stakeholders focused on improving the profitability of the business.
• Actuals Analysis: Analyse the underlying delivery of monthly/quarterly actuals including trend analysis and explaining actuals vs. forecasts. Highlight areas where performance is behind or ahead of plan or key performance targets and suggest potential interventions.
• Business Planning: Play a key role in the development of the long-term plan for the business and the quarterly plan update process. Has direct accountability for coordinating the plan for a part of the business. Analyse plan data in sap-based systems and output in PowerBI reports. Prepare presentation material, including commentary, and answer any follow up questions from leadership or central finance teams.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities in performance management products and promote use of standard systems and reports.
• Joint Venture Management: Support the local finance team to develop plans and Authorization for Expenditure (AFEs) to submit to joint venture partners for approval.
What will you need to be successful?
Must have educational qualifications:
• Business/Finance or Technical Discipline Degree level or equivalent
Preferred education/certifications:
• Master's Degree in a finance discipline e.g. MBA, CA
Minimum years of relevant experience:
• 5 years of relevant post qualification experience in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
Preferred experience:
• Some experience within global, complex and matrix organizations, preferably within an Oil & Gas business
Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with):
• Excellent team player with ability to communicate effectively at mid to senior levels, including translation of complex requirements to simple outcomes.
• Experience of developing and communicating financial management information to business partners
• Experience of developing long term financial plans for a business
• Experience in working with financial systems such as SAP, Microsoft products and visualization tools such as Power BI
• Ability to develop relationships with different stakeholders
Shift timing: 2:00 PM-11:00 PM India time
Who will you work with?
You will be working as a member of a team of finance professionals in the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) organization. The FP&A organization is an exciting new team being established by bp to create a centre of expertise in the areas of business planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and economic evaluation.
In addition to the FP&A team, you will also be partnering with the local finance team and various technical teams in onsite locations and other process towers within Finance Business & Technology centers.
