In which structure will you work as a Senior Contract Engineer (M/F)?

We are currently looking, on behalf of one of our clients in the energy sector, for a Senior Contract Engineer, based in Nanterre.

Senior Contract Engineer (M/F): What will be your missions and responsibilities?

The Contract Engineer will be fully assigned to an LNG project (Engineering, Procurement and Construction of an LNG plant), a multi-hundred-million-dollar project. The position will be based in Home Office (Paris - France).
  • He/she will be integrated into the Contract Management team (EPC Contractor) and will support the Contract Manager during project execution (management of the main contract with the client).
  • Overall, he/she will provide appropriate support to the Contract Manager in managing and administering the main contract post-award, in line with company policies, standards, and processes.
  • He/she will ensure compliance with contractual obligations by the company, the client, and the supply chain (entitlement verification, notifications, change orders, insurances, bonds, certifications, operational aspects, etc.), and will coordinate required actions with other company departments.
  • He/she will perform contract analyses on specific topics as requested by management.
  • He/she will draft, initiate, and/or review incoming and outgoing correspondence with clients, partners, and, when required, the supply chain.
  • He/she will initiate and coordinate the preparation, negotiation, and settlement of change orders, extensions of time (EOT), or other claims towards the client.
  • Additionally, he/she may be required to provide contractual and legal support to procurement/subcontracting teams for both pre- and post-award activities related to purchase orders (flow-down/back-to-back, negotiation of specific terms and conditions, management of variations, claims, back-charges, etc.), as well as contract follow-up with the client.
  • He/she will liaise with legal teams (corporate, compliance, intellectual property, insurance, litigation, legal advice) and other functions (treasury, tax, etc.) when necessary.
  • He/she will report functionally to the Head of Contract Management Department.
  • He/she will report operationally to the Contract Manager and interact with the broader project team.
  • Optionally, if the candidate performs well, an assignment on site in Oman may be considered. In this case, prior site experience and long-term contract management experience will be required.
  • The scope may evolve and be adjusted during the assignment.


What profile and skills are required for this Senior Contract Engineer position?

Field of expertise:
  • Oil & Gas industry
  • Project management: EPC projects (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) on EPC contractor side
  • Contract management with the client (mainly post-award / selling services activities)
  • Ideally, negotiation of legal terms of purchase orders (pre-award / purchasing activities)
  • Knowledge in compliance, intellectual property, and insurance
  • Fluent in English; French is a strong plus
  • Autonomous, rigorous, with strong communication skills
  • Good written English skills
  • Full knowledge of standards: English law / Common law
  • Software: standard tools (MS Office)
