Wood is currently recruiting for a Machinery Engineering Advisor to be based in Longford on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Machinery Engineering Advisor will provide senior machinery engineering leadership and technical support to the operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams of the Longford Gas Plants. Work independently and through teams to maintain and improve the safety and reliability of machinery as well as the skill of site personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and assess technical and business risk in maintenance, operation, project and management of change.Influence and interface with Senior Management, with emphasis on providing an understanding of technical and business risk. Review maintenance exceptions and provide risk analysis and management support, with particular focus on safeguards and controls.
  • Steward and utilize machinery monitoring programs (lubricant, vibration and performance) to manage machinery integrity and reliability. Provide expert analysis of monitoring findings to detect and prevent equipment failures.
  • Failure identification and root cause analysis, repair scope development, repair methods, procedures and quality control, operational optimization
  • Develop and implement targeted reliability improvement programs encompassing all elements of design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Value Hunting: Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve production through optimization, alteration, or installation of machinery.
  • Manage machinery related projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, technical specification, quality assurance, installation and commissioning.
  • Develop and deliver training, and mentor staff in machinery integrity principles and practices


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience in oil & gas industry (preferred) with at least 10 years in machinery engineering
  • Must be registered as a Mechanical Professional Engineer in the State of Victoria with the Building Licensing Authority whilst practicing in the role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, strong leadership skills
    • Detailed knowledge of the following machinery classes: positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, fans, axial and centrifugal compressors, high speed gearboxes, electrical motors and generators, gas and steam turbines, and diesel engines.
    • Detailed knowledge of machinery auxiliary, monitoring, protection, and control systems.
    • In-depth knowledge of machinery principles, failure mechanisms, maintenance practices and industry standards (AS, API, IOGP, AMCA, ISO, ASME).
