- Support Operations and Maintenance departments in optimizing the performance and reliability of plant instrumentation and control systems, identifying and correcting deficiencies and maintaining equipment and personnel safety.
- Identify and study current best practices in instrument engineering and recommend optimal solutions to meet specific requirements for existing systems upgrades and for preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Develop standard documentation and specifications in keeping with the latest international standards and follow up on project activities to ensure compliance with standards.
- Develop tender documentation and design documents for new projects and in-house projects and provide engineering support to Projects and other departments as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Review performance of instrumentation and control systems. Identify deficiencies or areas for improvement in terms of equipment upgrading, replacement or modifications to operating parameters.
- Provide guidance and technical advice related to the preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance of instrumentation and control systems and equipment. Assist in troubleshooting and coordinate with respective vendors to provide technical solutions.
- Assist Operations department in optimizing the operability, reliability, maintainability and safety of instrumentation and control system components.
- Develop Scope of Work (SOW), specifications, data sheets and other documents for instrumentation and control systems on new projects.
- Provide technical input to be used by the Projects department during the basic design phase and tender document preparation.
- Provide engineering support during the technical evaluation of bids and the contractor selection process.
- Coordinate the review and approval of design documents during various stages of project execution.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID and SIL sessions for new projects and provide inputs for P&ID, PFD, Cause & Effect Charts, Control Philosophy, operation, shutdown, maintenance and other procedures as necessary.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic or Instrumentation & Control System Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with an international engineering consultancy or oil company in the design, specification, installation, quality assurance, commissioning and maintenance of large oil and gas onshore and offshore projects with focus on instrumentation and control systems.
