JOB DESCRIPTION

Technip Energies Breaking boundaries together to engineer a sustainable future.

Be part of the solution at Technip Energies and embark on a one-of-a-kind journey. You will be helping to develop cutting-edge solutions to solve real-world energy problems.

Technip Energies is a global technology and engineering powerhouse. With leadership positions in LNG, hydrogen, ethylene, sustainable chemistry, and CO2 management, we are contributing to the development of critical markets such as energy, energy derivatives, decarbonization, and circularity. Our complementary business segments, Technology, Products and Services (TPS) and Project Delivery, turn innovation into scalable and industrial reality.

Through collaboration and excellence in execution, our 18,000+ employees across 35 countries are fully committed to bridging prosperity with sustainability for a world designed to last.

About the mission we offer you:

Join the Digital Section within the Lyon / Villeurbanne Operating Center.

As a Digital Officer / Data Scientist apprentice, your objective will be to identify, qualify and deliver AI / machine learning use cases across the Operating Center (engineering, construction, process, project management, etc.).

You will develop proof(s) of concept and, when relevant, contribute to turning them into usable solutions for teams.

The topics can include (but are not limited to) RAG/LLM-based solutions, image recognition, AI agents, and application-to-application communication (e.g., MCP servers), or any other technology that can be applied to business processes, engineering and project management.

Your missions:
  • Facilitating discussions with business teams across disciplines (engineering, construction, process, project management, etc.) to discuss, define and assess needs (workshops, requirement gathering, scoping and prioritization) and translate them into AI / data science use cases.
  • Exploring, preparing and making data reliable (data cleaning, quality checks, reconciliation, feature engineering) with traceability.
  • Building, evaluating and documenting analytical and machine learning models (baseline to advanced) using appropriate metrics.
  • Selecting, benchmarking and iterating on ML/AI approaches and models (including LLM/RAG and computer vision when relevant) to identify the most suitable solution for the use case.
  • Developing data visualizations and decision-support deliverables (notebooks, reports, prototypes and lightweight web apps) to communicate insights (Power BI is a plus).
  • Contributing to the industrialization of deliverables (reproducible pipelines, automated refresh, versioning) and to user adoption (documentation, training).
  • Integrating ML/AI models into project workflows and applications (e.g., APIs, lightweight web apps, connectors) and supporting deployment, monitoring and maintenance with the team.
  • Applying internal data security and confidentiality rules.

Starting date: September 2026

Duration: 24 months

During this apprenticeship, you will be accompanied by a tutor to answer your various questions.

About you:

We would be happy to meet you and discuss how you match this position. To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • You are studying for a Masters degree (or equivalent) in Data Science or Computer Science.
  • Python proficiency is required (e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib/seaborn or equivalent visualization libraries). You apply good coding practices (readability, versioning) and you can explain your approach.
  • Knowledge of key machine learning and AI models and libraries is required (e.g., scikit-learn; deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow; and, for LLM/RAG topics, the transformers ecosystem).
  • You have a strong analytical mindset and you are comfortable with model evaluation (metrics, validation, bias/limits awareness).
  • You are comfortable working with data end-to-end (collection, preparation, validation, documentation) and communicating with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of SQL is appreciated. Power BI is a plus.
  • Web development knowledge is appreciated (JavaScript, Django, Streamlit).
  • Fluent French is required; a good level of English is required.

You have strong communication skills and a good capacity for analysis and synthesis. You enjoy working in a team and you are curious.

All our job offers are open to people with disabilities.

Your career with us:

Working at Technip Energies is an inspiring journey, filled with groundbreaking projects and dynamic collaborations. Surrounded by diverse and talented individuals, you will feel welcomed, respected, and engaged. Enjoy a safe, caring environment where you can spark new ideas, reimagine the future, and lead change. As your career grows, you will benefit from learning opportunities at T.EN University, such as The Future Ready Program, Graduate Program, and from the support of your manager through check-in moments like the Mid-Year Development Review, fostering continuous growth and development.
