Job Description

Hill International, a global construction consulting firm specializing in construction management and program and project management, is looking for an experienced construction counsel to join its Legal Department, supporting the Middle East region. This position will also support Hill's sister company, Palladium. As part of the legal team, you will work closely with Hill and Palladium Operations and other disciplines. Responsibilities include reviewing and assisting in bid and tender opportunities; bond requests; reviewing and negotiating contracts; providing advice and counsel and litigation management. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with labor issues and handling insurance and risk issues, as well as compliance and corporate matters.

Responsibilities

  • Providing legal support to the Hill and Palladium Middle East business to ensure they comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Negotiate, draft and review commercial contracts, including services and consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements, agency agreements, vendor agreements, joint venture agreements, subconsultant agreements, construction agreements, government contracts and leases.
  • Providing sound legal advice.
  • Managing disputes and claims.
  • Working with other corporate functions of the Hill and Palladium ME businesses including Operations; Finance & Accounting; Compliance; Internal Audit and Human Resources.
  • Assisting in relation to labor law matters and employment disputes.
  • Management of and instructions to outside legal counsel.
  • Assisting in matters relating to Hill and Palladium's obligations under ethics and compliance related laws (e.g.: US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, US Anti-Boycott Regulations, and the UK Bribery Act), policies and procedures.
  • Providing legal training to the business as required.
  • Developing and managing standard form and sample documents (e.g.: NDAs, consultancy agreements and sub-consultancy contracts, etc.).
  • Provide analysis and legal advice on general corporate matters, including licensing and registrations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Law from a reputable university.
    • Fluent in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
    • 8-15 years of experience as a practicing attorney, either in-house, or at a top law firm.
    • 5+ years of regional experience.
    • Experience negotiating, drafting, reviewing, and enforcing contracts.
    • General corporate law experience.
    • Construction industry experience and knowledge of FIDIC a plus.
    • Ethics and Compliance experience.
    • Excellent problem-solving, written, and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
