Job Description Summary
The Small Uncrewed Engines (SUE) Development Engineering Team at GE Aerospace is seeking a motivated and talented Requirements & Risk Management Engineer to support requirements and risk management activities. This is an exciting opportunity to join GE Aerospace in a new market space focused on satisfying propulsion needs for the warfighter on autonomous uncrewed vehicles and missile systems. Working within the systems engineering function, you will support the management of customer requirements, program risk, and alignment to future product needs across multiple propulsion system development programs.
This role will focus on utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, specifically CAMEO Systems Modeler, to capture, manage, and trace requirements while supporting risk identification, assessment, and tracking activities. You will work closely with experienced systems engineers, design engineers, and program management teams to ensure requirements are properly captured, decomposed, and flowed down to design teams, and that program risks are identified and managed proactively. Job Description
Role & Responsibilities
- Support requirements management activities across SUE Development programs, assisting with requirements capture, decomposition, allocation, and traceability using CAMEO Model-Based Systems Engineering tools, maintaining requirements models within the CAMEO environment, ensuring proper linkages between customer requirements, system requirements, and subsystem requirements, and generating requirements documentation, requirements matrices, and traceability reports from the model.
- Assist with risk management activities including risk identification, risk assessment, risk documentation, and risk tracking, supporting the maintenance of program risk registers, participating in risk review meetings with engineering teams and leadership, documenting risk mitigation plans and tracking risk mitigation actions, and providing risk status updates and reports to support program decision-making.
- Support verification and validation planning activities, helping to define verification methods (analysis, inspection, demonstration, test) for requirements, tracking verification status and compliance across design teams, identifying verification gaps or issues, and assisting with preparation of verification reports and compliance documentation for design reviews and program milestones.
- Coordinate with design engineering teams, systems engineering teams, and program management to ensure requirements are properly understood and flowed down to design activities, support requirements clarification and interpretation, assist with requirements change management and impact assessment, participate in design reviews and technical meetings, and communicate requirements status and issues to stakeholders.
- Support interface requirements management activities, assisting with the definition and documentation of interface requirements between propulsion systems and weapon system airframes, coordinating with the Airframe Integrator Lead on interface control documentation, and ensuring interface requirements are properly captured in the CAMEO model with appropriate traceability .
- Develop specialized knowledge in requirements management, risk management, and Model-Based Systems Engineering, learning GE Aerospace systems engineering processes and best practices, supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness of requirements and risk management processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, systems engineering, or related roles (new graduates with relevant internship or co-op experience will be considered).
- This role requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
Desired Characteristics
- Master's degree in Systems Engineering , Aerospace Engineering, or related field, exposure to CAMEO Systems Modeler, DOORS, or other requirements management tools through coursework or projects, familiarity with SysML (Systems Modeling Language) or Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts, and internship or co-op experience in aerospace, defense, or propulsion systems engineering.
- Familiarity with systems engineering principles and processes, exposure to risk management frameworks or methodologies, understanding of gas turbine engines or propulsion systems through coursework or projects, strong interest in Department of Defense applications and weapon systems, and demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative on assigned tasks.
- Active DoW security clearance or prior experience working with export-controlled or classified information, familiarity with GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating model or lean principles, strong technical writing skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools, and demonstrated leadership through academic projects, student organizations, or extracurricular activities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to work effectively in team environments, demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and priorities, willingness to learn and develop expertise in requirements management and risk management, and enthusiasm for aerospace propulsion systems and defense applications.
- Demonstrated interest in or exposure to requirements management, systems engineering, or Model-Based Systems Engineering through coursework, projects, internships, or co-op experiences, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, and ability to learn and apply new tools, processes, and methodologies.
