Turnaround Planning Engineer
Reporting & Context
Operations Division, Maintenance Services department, reporting to Senior Planning Engineer (Turnaround). Established 29/04/2026, approved by Head of Turnaround.
Job Purpose
Develop TAR scope, prepare budgetary estimates, maintain the master plan across all turnaround phases, and ensure safe, cost-effective, on-schedule execution aligned with QAFCO Turnaround Management System (TMS) and Stage-Gate governance (Gates 1-6).
Key Accountabilities
Scope Development: Define TAR scope incorporating inspection findings, asset integrity requirements, risk assessments, OEM recommendations, and lessons learned; manage formal scope change process; lead scope challenge and optimisation efforts.
Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain integrated master schedules in Primavera P6 including critical path, near-critical activities, resource levelling, and clash/interface analysis; integrate all phases (pre-TAR, shutdown, execution, startup) into a single unified plan.
Budget & Cost Control: Develop equipment-level cost estimates (OPEX/CAPEX); support variance analysis (Budget vs Actual); integrate lessons learned for future TAR cycles.
SAP Master Data: Create, maintain, and update TAR preventive maintenance schedules, task lists, BOMs, and equipment assignments in SAP; ensure timely generation of notifications and work orders; support SAP-Primavera integration.
Execution Support: Verify readiness (materials, manpower, tools, permits); monitor progress via KPIs and trend analysis; manage emergent scope; support punch list clearance and pre-startup readiness.
Stakeholder Coordination: Facilitate multi-discipline coordination meetings; act as focal point for tendering and technical evaluations; ensure contractor alignment.
Training: Mentor trainees and newly hired personnel in TAR planning methodologies and scheduling tools.
IMS Compliance: Adhere to QAFCO Integrated Management Systems (Quality, HSE, Environment, Responsible Care, Energy).
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline. 5-10 years of direct and relevant TAR planning/engineering experience. Proficiency in SAP and Primavera P6 required. Strong understanding of Stage-Gate governance, critical path management, and integrated TAR execution.
