We are looking for an experienced IRATA Level III Alpinist Painter to join offshore projects in Mexico and the USA. This role involves advanced painting, corrosion control, and team supervision in oil & gas environments.
Function Description
This position is ideal for senior offshore professionals with strong expertise in rope access, industrial painting, and corrosion management. The role combines technical execution with supervision responsibilities, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency on offshore vessels.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Apply and oversee anti-corrosion coating systems on offshore equipment and structures
- Supervise and verify execution of maintenance and corrective painting activities
- Identify corrosion issues and define appropriate treatment solutions
- Prepare surfaces and ensure proper application of coating systems
- Use and supervise the use of painting tools and equipment (spray systems, mechanical tools)
- Ensure proper paint preparation and mixing processes
- Complete and review reports, timesheets, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and permit systems
- Lead and execute rescue plans and work-at-height procedures
- Maintain clear communication with project coordinators and offshore teams
- Monitor materials, consumables, and stock levels onboard
- Maintain clean and safe working areas at all times
Requirements
Requirements:
- IRATA Level III certification (mandatory)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of offshore experience
- Proven experience in supervising painting crews
- Strong knowledge of coating inspection and application standards
- Experience in offshore painting, corrosion control, and maintenance
Technical Knowledge:
- Surface preparation tools (grinders, scrubbers, polishers, etc.)
- Paint systems (single-component, multi-component, catalytic coatings)
- Marine coating application and repair
- National and international coating standards
Certifications and Documents:
- Valid Seaman's Book
- Offshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET / T-BOSIET, RIGPASS, CBSP)
- Work at Heights & Confined Space certifications
- OGUK Medical Fitness Certificate
- Valid passport (US visa is an advantage)
- Industrial Painting, Corrosion, or NACE certification (preferred)
