Role Synopsis:

Skills Performance Senior Advisor - Subsurface is responsible for supporting the planning, design and delivery of subsurface learning & skills offers across bp, globally.

The role focuses on understanding the business context, converting goals into relevant people impacts, analyzing skills gaps, optimizing development interventions and programmes, and integrating skills insights into workforce planning, development, and performance. This role is global, supporting sophisticated entity partners within Subsurface who have a high degree of influence.

The Skills Performance Senior Advisor - Subsurface has a broad scope and high degrees of technical complexity, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build a skills culture and ensure employee development for bp's organizational goals.

The Subsurface entity is a highly technical and complex organization, critical to the success of bp overall. The Skills Performance Senior Advisor - Subsurface will deliver precision skilling for Subsurface to help our people perform today and predictive skilling to help our people transform for tomorrow

Role Purpose:

The Skills Performance Senior Advisor (Subsurface) plans, designs and delivers global skills and development strategies that ensure subsurface teams have the capabilities required to meet business priorities, operate safely and compliantly, and adapt to future needs. The role translates subsurface strategy and performance requirements into targeted, value‑driven skills interventions, embedding skills insights into workforce planning and capability development.

Accountabilities:

Proposes solutions for the design team and completes the business value and skills performance briefing documents to demonstrate solution value and impact and enable robust prioritization conversations.

Maintains strong working relationships to ensure solutions developed and implemented meet needs by crafting an effective atmosphere for teamwork between subject matter experts, customers, and the learning design perfection team. Solves complex problems and supports the team to remove blockers.

Manages the demand planning process, working with faculty to schedule and deliver the agreed demand plan set out by the business in the annual process.

Acts as the single point of contact for faculty for sessions, partnering with services and solutions to deliver high quality, silent running learning events for the Subsurface learning audience.

Promotes a strong skills culture within Subsurface, encouraging ownership of development by individuals and leaders.

Supports the Subsurface Skills Manager with project work on grow@bp, learning design projects and management of project delivery for learning resources.

Curates and maintains role plans and development pathways for the Subsurface population within grow@bp, ensuring a high‑quality, outstanding learning experience for the learner community.

Proactively identifies and drives continuous improvement in processes and business interfaces.

Understands the strategic workforce and skill development context for their area of responsibility and how this connects to common priorities across bp to ensure solutions deliver maximum value.

Experience:

Minimum of 5+ years of relevant work experience in HR, Learning & Development or the Oil and Gas sector

Strong prior experience with Learning Management Systems and Learning Design
