We are currently seeking a Environmental & Sustainability Engagement Manager to join our Genesis team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

About the Job

Engagement Manager is responsible for leading and delivering highly strategic outcomes for our clients via our engagements; independently planning mobilizing and delivering our projects within a timely manner.

The Engagement Manager is also responsible for developing our Environmental Sustainability Business; creating insightful marketing and thought leadership materials, and presenting to our clients and a wider audience (via conferences and subject matter engagements) for the purpose of originating and securing our projects pipeline.

This is a leadership role within the Early Advisory business, shaping and driving the energy transition narrative for our key clients and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in sustainability management topics, including the development of sustainability strategies and the application of ESG frameworks.

Job scope

The successful candidate will work as part of the highly skilled Environmental & Sustainability Team within Genesis, supporting a wide range of clients on varied and interesting scopes of work. The candidate will drive market expansion as part of the growth ambition for the Environmental & Sustainability Team; enabling us to showcase our expertise and deliver value across multiple industries.

Knowledge of sustainability frameworks and management approaches, combined with prior experience of the application of these ideally in a consulting setting, is essential.

Project Delivery

• Project Management: Leading and managing projects related to sustainability and ESG from inception to completion, acting as the main contact on technical and commercial matters, and overseeing resources and budgets;
• Conduct Sustainability Assessments: Evaluate clients current practices, policies, and impacts to identify areas for improvement;
• Develop Sustainability Strategies: Create tailored action plans that align with clients goals and regulatory requirements;
• Advise on Sustainable Practices: Provide guidance on sustainable technologies, practices, and compliance with environmental legislation to enhance overall performance.
• Liaison with Environmental Study Manager to coordinate allocation of appropriate personnel across a range of projects (accounting for existing skills and learning opportunities);
• Providing leadership and line reporting to a team of environmental and sustainability consultants and/or engineers.
• Development and retention of talent within their team; motivating team members to meet personal and business targets.

Line Management

• Liaison with Environmental Study Manager to coordinate allocation of appropriate personnel across a range of projects (accounting for existing skills and learning opportunities);
• Providing leadership and line reporting to a team of environmental and sustainability consultants and/or engineers.
• Development and retention of talent within their team; motivating team members to meet personal and business targets.

KPIs

• Order Intake - Win work through delivering tenders and follow on work
• Project Profitability - Accountable for Project profitability in line with the proposal
• Project Delivery - Ensure successful project execution and delivery along with Client satisfaction of assigned projects
• Business Development & Client Engagement - Build Client relations and support Business Development campaigns to grow and diversify our market footprint and Client base
• Innovative & Collaborate - Collaborate globally to explore new services and ways to optimize project execution and profitability, with focus on digitalization
• Competency development - Ensure we have the necessary competencies to execute projects and grow our business

About You

The successful applicant must

• Have a degree in environment/ sustainability or relevant subject;
• Extensive experience (>15 years) in the energy sector with the majority of this focused on delivering ESG or sustainability orientated projects
• Have project management experience on small to medium projects;
• Have experience in client relationship building;
• Be a strong team player;
• Be well-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines;
• Have excellent written and communication skills with attention to detail.
